• Prestige Club Idea..

For those of you who were around when the Arctic Wolf Association, then basically this is a copy or continuation of Jinxx's idea. For those of you who weren't, continue reading.

The Arctic Wolf Association (AWA) had a goal of partnering sponsors with novices, getting them involved with VP socially, as well as teaching them the ropes of the game to get them involved game-wise. Back then there were quite a few players interested in Arctic Wolves, though with 500 breeds to choose from on VP now, virtually any breed could take it's place. It would obviously be easier to single out one particular breed, but that might make it too exclusive to a new player.

We have had programs like this before, sponsors partner up with novices and attempt to teach them everything they need to know. It's a noble cause, but one only capable of succeeding if both sponsors and new novices are truly interested in giving it a shot. As far as I know, the AWA was truly the only successful sponsor-novice help program.

Main Goals

Social Activity
While this game is about dogs, being social is the only way to keep VP alive. Right now there is a subtle elitist feel to the community. You have these tight knit groups of friends and it's fairly difficult to get your foot in the door. Imagine being the new kid at school. You don't really know the forums exist, you don't understand the material, and everyone you talk to turns you away or ignores you. You go into chat but as soon as you enter, it's a ghost town, or people ignore you when you say "hi".

So instead, one of the jobs of a sponsor is to show them the different social aspects of the game, and try to get them to communicate with others in a non-threatening environment. Introduce them to your own friends. Perhaps even do another one of those introduction threads where we all post our general interests, hobbies, favorites, etc. [Of course keeping in mind that personal information and spam-like nonsense aren't allowed.] That way new players can basically look for someone to talk to who has similar interests.

Solid Understanding
A sponsors main job is to answer questions and provide help to the novices under your care. You answer anything that you can. You teach them everything from naming a dog to retiring it. You don't have to write manuals (nobody wants to do that repeatedly), but you point out helpful guides and you walk them through anything they don't understand. You let them know that you are there to help them, and that if you cannot do so you will find someone who can. The worst thing for a new player to experience is the feeling of being abandoned.

Eventing
Eventing is one of the top ways for a novice to make money, and therefore a strong emphasis is placed in this goal. We provide quality show pups, get them trained, and hold miniature competitions within the prestige account. These would be friendly competitions to encourage both novices and sponsors to keep going strong.

A special note, the pups used can't just be toss away/trash pups. They have to actually serve a purpose beyond clearing out our own kennels. With the AWA, the sponsors donated pups from their own lines. Keep in mind that they remained intact normally. I'd be up for training and breeding special lines designed specifically for giving away the intact offspring for this cause.

Other Notes

Breeding
While this goes back to giving the novices a solid understanding of the game, I felt it needed to be singled out. Those sponsors with breeding kennels would be asked to provide breeding services for those novices who were under this program. The breeding fees could be charged directly to VAA, and I can put up whatever amount necessary for this particular feature.

Training
Each novice would receive one or two show pups, fully trained, at no cost to them. Each additional training would have to either be paid for by them, by their sponsor, or approved by the VAA. We would either need their designated sponsors to perform this training, use a donated trainer, or hire out to an outside trainer. Either way, the training fees can be charged directly to the VAA, and again, I can put up money for this feature.

Not a Babysitter
While it would be the sponsors 'job' to show their novice the ropes, you wouldn't be required to provide any service or continue communication if for some reason it became uncomfortable.

Not a Permanent Deal
Novices would have a time limit to be under their sponsors wing, probably one month. That seems to be a sufficient amount of time to teach your novice(s) the ropes, get them social, and give them what they need to be successful. Extensions would have to be approved by the VAA.

Low Teacher to Pupil Number
Sponsors would only be allowed 1-2 novices at a time. This allows for adequate time between the sponsor and the novice, as well as a fairly low competition between novices who all seek the sponsors attention. Anything more would have to be approved by the VAA.

Seeing as how it's past 1am I'm going to leave it at that. So thoughts on doing this? Celia said to post about it so there. XD
