website for tracking highest stats and fame by breed

edited April 2015 in Tips & Tricks
This started as a personal project to track my own work. I think it will be useful to the community, so I found a free webhost and uploaded it.

Link to Site: <a href="http://vpnova.biz.ht/"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://vpnova.biz.ht/
I have already gone through some of the top dogs, examples of partially completed pages are here:
Labrador Retriever: <a href="http://vpnova.biz.ht/displayBreed.php?id=80"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://vpnova.biz.ht/displayBreed.php?id=80
Border Collie: <a href="http://vpnova.biz.ht/displayBreed.php?id=49"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://vpnova.biz.ht/displayBreed.php?id=49
Australian Cattle Dog: <a href="http://vpnova.biz.ht/displayBreed.php?id=131"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://vpnova.biz.ht/displayBreed.php?id=131

In Summary, the main page has a list of all(including PB's) the breeds on virtual pups, broken down by group: feral, herding, hound, lupus, non-sporting, sporting, terrier, toy, working and miscellaneous, which contains all other groups.
You can click on one of the hyperlinked breed names to see the breed page. The breed page has some basic statistics: age, height weight, colors and population. As well, there are links to the highest birth statted dogs for number of stars and all 10 stats. Lastly, it will display the top 10 most famous alive and retired dogs.
In addition to the statistics, there are two forms on the breed pages. The first form is under the High Stats section, for adding new high stats or dogs with the current high stat but a lower id. You will select a stat and enter the value between the parenthesis next to that stat on the dog's page including the decimal. Then copy/paste the dog's name exactly as it appears and find the dog's id in their url. Push submit, and please do not refresh the page.
The second form is similar, found under the Most Famous - Retired section. There are places for dog name and id, like the first form. As well, enter the total fame, number of wins, shows and places, total events and total earnings (do not include a dollar sign or commas). Lastly, check the check box if the dog is retired and click submit. The process is exactly the same to update a dog that has gotten more fame since the last time it was entered.

To see stats and fame that have been entered but not yet approved: <a href="http://vpnova.biz.ht/pending.php"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://vpnova.biz.ht/pending.php
You do not have to be logged in to see the pending information, it will appear as soon as something is submitted.
However, I can log into this page and approve or decline submissions easily anytime.

So, I am asking the community if you find this useful to please look at the breeds you are working with and make some submissions. For now, I would like to exclude dogs under 6 months, as they could be released and then we will have a hole in our data. Most of the breeds are currently blank, so don't worry about finding the highest stats on VP yet, because having something there will give others a starting point to look for. Please let me know what you think, any feedback will be most appreciated!

My ToDo List:
Make a layout or find someone to do it, Add descriptions and find open source images for each breed, Create advanced breed search to display and search by age height weight stats stars etc., Make the updating of population easier, Add an export database button to allow others to use the data and back it up for themselves

 • I really like this idea. It will be a big undertaking, but nice to have. There are many times I have gone to work on a line and wondered how far along the breed was. I know there is the stars list, but even knowing if a breed is at high 9x4 or just beggining 9x4 ect, is nice to know. It will also be nice to see if the breed progresses well or is stubborn one based off looking at a specific dog. I will have to work on submissions for this when I get some free time!

 • Yes, it will be a huge project, luckily there are the other lists to at least start from. I'll be entering more as well once I get done with my slave training lol. Glad to hear you like it, I look forward to getting some submissions :D
