Injuries Dx

edited March 2014 in Vent
So, I have a history with my right leg. I damaged the joints in my right knee & ankle when I was in the sixth grade so now I deal with swelling inside my joints on a regular basis. Well, about two months ago my right ankle got the point where I couldn't even put weight on it. I went to the doctor and found out I have peroneal tendonitis; basically I managed to irritate the tendons that run on the outside of my foot, around my ankle and up into my calf. I had to use crutches for a week with 13 inches of snow on the ground >.> I started up my physical therapy and I've been doing everything that I'm supposed to do. Well, much to the frustration of my physical therapist and I, the swelling in my tendon just won't stay down! My strength and balance have greatly improved, but even on days where I barely do any activity it's inflamed. I get iontophoresis treatments every week after therapy and it only helps for the duration of that day and sometimes into the next morning. I've become so frustrated with my ankle, despite my physical therapist's encouragement. This will be my fourth time in physical therapy regarding my right leg. The fact that it's messing with my everyday life is bad enough, but I'm also hugely into swing dancing. It's become my form of stress relief and something I love to do. Not being able to dance more than a few songs in a row is killing my soul. In two weeks I'll be going back to see another member of the department for a second opinion. Here's to hoping that between the two of them they can figure it out. I'm seeing a boot, cortisone shot or a recommendation to an ortho in my future >.>

 • Ah, a fellow dancer! It's definitely driving me crazy. The first thing I asked was "So when can I dance again?" But thank you!

 • Yes! I Lindy :-) There are dances in my area every two weeks and sometimes they have special events downtown. I'm there every time :P

Once of my swing buddies broke her foot a couple months ago, and rather than miss any dances she rented a wheelchair... She was far less than graceful but she was still on the dance floor spinning and all
