UKC/CKC/AKC Strutting My Daisy Dukes *Updated: 07 Nov 2014*

Well, long story short, my parents felt bad for making me give up my APBT, Autumn, so they surprised me for my birthday and got me a German Shorthaired Pointer. Her name is Daisy Mae and she is 6 months old. She has learned fetch, sit, stay, and lay down. I am working on her balancing a treat on her head and it is going well.<br><br>Her original owner was unable to contact the breeder he got her from to get her papers, so he did not want to breed her without being able to paper the puppies. He also lost his male that he had for over three years due to someone waiting for him to go to work (he is a firefighter, so he works 24 hours) and stealing Trigger (the dog). His son grew up with Trigger (he was bought 3 months after the boy was born) and was VERY upset about the loss, so they bought Daisy thinking that they would never see Trigger again (it had been 3 months). Well Daniel (the man) got a phone call and then a text from his cousin who was visiting a friend on the other side of the county about a dog that had the same markings as Trigger. These markings are original and are even clearly listed on his AKC papers, so they knew it was Trigger. They found him tied to a tree, in VERY bad shape. Daniel called the police and they had him show them Trigger's commands, in which he followed with ease. The officer allowed Daniel to take home Trigger and of course he pressed charges. When he decided to breed Trigger, he tried to get Daisy's papers that he was already supposed to have. He then found the perfect hunting lined female and bred with her. She's very cute. ^^<br>That's ashame about the other guys dog that someone stole and abused though. Some people just make me so mad. :evil: Atleast he got his dog back though.

Cute : D<br><br><br>The only thing is, was there a contract between the breeder and the original owner, and if so, was he allowed to sell/otherwise transfer ownership of her? All of the breeders I've ever looked into have a clause in their contract that states if the person purchasing the puppy has to give it up for some reason then ownership reverts back to the breeder.

I am not sure, but I am sure there is also something in there about him being able to sue for false advertising and ripping him off. Plus even if there is, Daniel has tried to contact them and they have never called back or answered emails, so how would he give her back if they won't even answer for him to inform them? I have no worries about it honestly.

<span style="font-size:150"><span style="font-weight:bold"><span style="text-decoration:underline">Update:</span></span></span><br>I know I have been lacking in updating you all about Daisy, but I promise that will be changed.<br><br>Well, I have been working on various tricks and tasks with Daisy. She has now mastered sit, stay, come, fetch, jump, over, shake, balancing treats on her nose and head, tracking deer, and pulling weights. I took her hunting with me several days last week and she did very well for her first time out in the field instead of on a boat (she was trained to duck hunt by her previous owner). She did not get a chance to track any wounded deer, but she did track down many hoof tracks and several piles of droppings. I have put my clicker and huge treat bag away for good. I know that these are effective ways of training for some, but not Daisy. In the week I have been doing positive reinforcement training she has learned to grab books, fetch me water bottles, fetch her leash, fetch the mail and put it on the counter, fetch me towels and place them on the counter, put up her toys, put up my daughter's toys, and fetch me the remote. I know some of these make me sound a little lazy, but they are the only tricks I could think of at the time that I found useful and fun. She is so smart and has made me have to make up tricks. I will post videos of her doing these soon I hope. I am going to train her to bring me her bowls next!<br><br>And to top the good news off, we are planning on breeding her after he second heat this coming year. My boyfriend's best friend has a cousin that has a AKC/UKC registered male that he is wanting to put through a "test breed" and heard how smart and saw pictures of Daisy and asked if they could breed. My parents were all for it as long as I could pay for the tails to be docked. I am so excited that Daisy is going to be a mommy.

Well Daisy is now working on her therapy dog training at a local senior center. She was a little more excited than I wanted her to be, but she did not jump on anyone or bark. She did take off her gentle leader several times, but she has only worn it a few times while on a leash. The activity director said that was to be expected and scheduled us to come every Friday to visit the seniors. We were very excited about that. Daisy has two months (eight visits) to learn how to properly act and then she will have her certification test with TDI (Therapy Dogs International). She did not jump, but she sure did swim her heart out. She went from being scared of the pool to running up the ramp and waiting for me to pick her up to put her in at the end for her to swim to the ramp (it builds her confidence) in a matter of 4-5 swims on the first day. Then she moved on to swimming and fetching her toys (still on day one). The trainers said she was the most improved dog that they have ever seen. Well I know it has been a long time since I updated everyone on Miss Daisy, but with the last semester of college being so important and losing my computer after that, I have not been able to. Thankfully I have found my computer and finished my semester in college and it is summer break. In other words, more VP time and time to spend with both Daisy and Dixie. If you want a good Dock Dog then they have to have the strength to push themselves out far from the dock. I also want to do some weight pulling competitions with her and Dixie (when Dixie is old enough). Her personal best is a little over 200 lbs. What a pretty girl! Sounds like you are really doing a lot of activities with her. It's really cool that she does weight pulling too. I'd -love- to see pictures of her pulling the 200 lbs. that you mentioned.

<br><br>I will do that once I have a better camera. As you can tell by her non-moving pictures, I do not really take inmotion pictures. That is because of my crappy camera on my ancient phone. If I take in motion pictures or even videos, it comes out as a huge blob of mess. I will be able to do that around September-December. It all depends on who gets my better phone fixed and for what holiday; 4 year anniversary, birthday, or Christmas. Hopefully it is my anniversary in September lol.

Daisy now has a new hobby; spring pole! I built one in the backyard mainly for Dixie because every dog that I know in her family (2 generations) LOVE to play with the spring pole. Well needless to say, Daisy is getting WAY more use out of it than Dixie. Dixie has played with it some, but would much rather be playing fetch or sleeping. Daisy on the other hand, is CRAZY for it. We went through two shirts, one pair of shorts, and two soccer balls in one day because she would latch on and swing until they broke off; yes she DOES know the command release, but I figured I would let her have her fun. The balls were flat and ancient anyways and the clothes were faded and had been outside for months, so they wouldn't have been missed. Now we have worked our way up to a basketball. I had been kicking the basketball around the yard for her to fetch and bring back and figured she would have more fun with it on the spring pole than the tennis ball... And she did! I had to make two minorly large holes, but the labor was worth it in the end. <a href="http://fav.me/d7ql1c0"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">This</a> is a picture of Daisy getting pumped up by my sister (Mods: you only see my sister's arm and foot). I will upload a link to a video of her doing this from two days ago as well, so you all can see how much she LOVES it. I posted a video on several GSP forums and several people responded that she seems like the perfect schutzhund dog, so that might be something to look into.<br><br>I also have increased her jumping height to 3 ft! I will post a video of that today as well, I just have to wait for my phone to charge enough that it will not die in the process.

I know, I know, it has been a while since I last updated you all, but I have a good excuse... I had to deal with A LOT of personal issues and needed a little time to myself. In my away time I found that Daisy Dukes would pick up instinctively on my panic attacks and was able to help me and fetch help so I retired her from being a therapy dog and trained her to be my service dog (which took a lot of the anxiety of daily life away). She has taken to her new job very well and I am so proud of her and happy to have her in my life.<br><br>My boyfriend (which was another reason that I disappeared; helping him move in took longer than expected) and I even took her to her second dock jumping competition and she actually jumped (not enough to be counted, but it was still a jump!)! We are joining a club/training center this summer with her (my boyfriend insisted since he saw how much she and I loved it... He is even paying for it (against my will)).<br><br>And now for what you have all been waiting for....... <br>I will hopefully be back for good this time. I had a lot of stuff going on, like the debate of getting a new boyfriend since my daughter's father had his accident. I finally stopped blaming myself for his choice and did what was better for my daughter and me and started dating the guy that I am with now (funny thing is he was my high school crush). He has been so great and is very supportive of Daisy Dukes's job and her dock diving. We have made the choice to get Daisy Dukes fixed after this heat because it allows her to work year round and not have to take several weeks off every six months. Eventually we plan on getting a male GSP, but it will be after we move out and both have supporting jobs of a family of three humans, two (possibly three) dogs, one (by then two) cats, and a 10 gallon fish tank of a (hopefully functional) Beta fish community. We should know if we have that step down in the next few months; he has applied to be a fireman in the same county as my step-dad and I am hoping to become a vet tech (and eventually a vet for all animals, including farm animals).<br><br>I agree, dogs' ability to pick up on all disabilities is simply amazing. It had been a little bit since my last attack and she started acting very odd (trying to lay on me and rubbing and licking my hand) and then the attack happened. She laid on my chest (which usually takes training) and waited for me to calm down and then went to the door and barked until my boyfriend came to see what was going on. It was amazing that she knew to do that by herself.<br><br>Thank you. She is one of the prettiest dogs that I have seen. She defiantly gets a lot of "ooos" and "ahhhhs" when she is out with me.
