Downloading Fonts To GIMP [IMG Heavy]

I always have people asking me how to download fonts and brushes to GIMP so why not just make a tutorial?! For the fonts I always use <a href="http://www.dafont.com"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://www.dafont.com</a>; Step 1: Open dafont.com Step 2: Pick your category (I chose Fancy-Decorative) <img src="http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc69/Quiggles_101/step2.png"; alt="http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc69/Quiggles_101/step2.png"; class="bb-image" /> Step 3: After you click your chosen category find the font you want Step 4: Once your font is chosen, click DOWNLOAD next to the font you picked. <img src="http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc69/Quiggles_101/step4.png"; alt="http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc69/Quiggles_101/step4.png"; class="bb-image" /> Step 5: When a new little window comes up, click OPEN <img src="http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc69/Quiggles_101/step5.png"; alt="http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc69/Quiggles_101/step5.png"; class="bb-image" /> Step 6: If this window pops up click Allow. <img src="http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc69/Quiggles_101/step6.png"; alt="http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc69/Quiggles_101/step6.png"; class="bb-image" /> Step 7: Now select the font file and copy it <img src="http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc69/Quiggles_101/step7.png"; alt="http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc69/Quiggles_101/step7.png"; class="bb-image" /> Step 8: Find your GIMP folder and open it <img src="http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc69/Quiggles_101/step8.png"; alt="http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc69/Quiggles_101/step8.png"; class="bb-image" /> Step 9: Find the Font folder and open it <img src="http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc69/Quiggles_101/step9.png"; alt="http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc69/Quiggles_101/step9.png"; class="bb-image" /> Step 10: Go to Edit and Paste the font you chose ot download <img src="http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc69/Quiggles_101/step10.png"; alt="http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc69/Quiggles_101/step10.png"; class="bb-image" /> Step 11: Now your font should be there! <img src="http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc69/Quiggles_101/step11.png"; alt="http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc69/Quiggles_101/step11.png"; class="bb-image" /> Now you can open GIMP and your font should be there when you use your font tool. You can search for it. **NOTE: The dame steps apply for brushes from any site just instead of using the fonts folder use the brushes folder

When GIMP is open, go to your toolbox There is a big "A" this lists all of your fonts

Everytime they upgrade the GIMP versions-they move everything around. I had to redownload it on my dad's computer after it crashed..and it's horrible.

It didn't come with any fonts, can't find out where to upload brushes into it, etc. Truthfully, I don't even think you can upload fonts to it, otherwise the fonts that are automatically on the computer would load in it.. So...I'm suggesting that's the reason y'all can't get it to work. ;; *flops*

Yeah, Gimp is kinda confusing XD They have no good fonts, which is why I came here...

I downloaded GIMP once and never upgraded it, so I am assuming that is why it won't work you you guys. The version I use is GIMP 2. When it is loading there is a image of a planet. So if you have that version, this should work.

I have GIMP 2 as well, but 2.6 on my dad's computer. $:\$ It's a shame they have to move everything around whenever they upgrade it or the such. It works on the computer I'm on now-because I have 2. But on my dad's, I'm going to try and download the one they have on their site now to see if they fixed anything..otherwise I'm going to their support for it. >.>

Yeah, I have Gimp 2. The fonts on Gimp are terrible, and my computer seems to dislike photobucket

so all fonts I use aren't very good looking.

You can also put the fonts in Computer > Windows > Fonts and paste them in there, and then you can use them on any program. I know about dates but it may just help some people
