Chat Help (large images) [mIRC setup, Java]

Thanks to Prancer (a VHR player), I bring you a guide on how to set up mIRC <br>Modified slightly to suit VP chatters <br><br>

Now you should see something like this:<br><br><img src="http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a326/PrancerIsCrazy/mirc2.jpg"; alt="http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a326/PrancerIsCrazy/mirc2.jpg"; class="bb-image" /><br><br>Enter in a nickname, email address, the full name part doesnt have to be your real name, I advise against putting your real name there, as people will be able to see it if they know how. You need an alternative name too, incase wikkedwire has a little hiccup and does a netsplit, or you ping out, which just means your internet packed in and kicked you off, but your first name will still be there.<br><br>3. Now that you have done that, you need to click on servers under connect, shown here with the red arrow:<br><br><img src="http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a326/PrancerIsCrazy/mirc3.jpg"; alt="http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a326/PrancerIsCrazy/mirc3.jpg"; class="bb-image" /><br><br>4. Once there, you should see this:<br><br><img src="http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a326/PrancerIsCrazy/mirc4.jpg"; alt="http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a326/PrancerIsCrazy/mirc4.jpg"; class="bb-image" /><br><br>Now, there should be a wikkedwire folder already in there. The new version seems to have it added already, so there should be no need to add a new one. However, if there is, let me know and I will help you through this.<br><br>5. Once you have done all that, click back onto connect above servers at the left, and <span style="font-weight:bold">ALWAYS</span> click Connect in the middle of the little box. Clicking ok does nothing.<br><br>So you should now be on wikkedwire. You may have to type /join #virtualpups to get onto the actual vp chatroom, I'm not sure, cant remember how I got mine to work. <br><br><br><span style="font-size:150"><span style="font-weight:bold">Now for how to get onto chat using a Mac computer</span></span><br><br>You will need to download it <a href="http://www.hacksrus.com/~ginda/chatzilla/"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">HERE</a><br><br>And then install it like you would with Mirc. <br><br>However, I dont use this programme, so I shall ask someone I know who does know how to use it. I know a few people who use it, hopefully one of them will be able to help on this section of the guide. <br><br>I can help you get onto vhr, but I cant help on changing your nickname or anything like that, as I dont know how.<br><br>1. Type out /server irc.wikkedwire.com Just like that, with the /server part too.<br><br>2. Go up to the irc menu, and choose join channel.<br><br>3. Type #virtualpups into the join channel window and you should come onto vp by doing that.<br><br>There is apparently a nick thing over at the left for you to choose a nickname, change it I think, although dont quote me on that.<br><br><br><span style="font-size:150"><span style="font-weight:bold">Tips for while on chat</span></span><br><br>Now that you are on, a few helpful hints wouldnt go amiss I bet. <br><br><span style="color:red">To change your nickname type: /nick Newnickhere</span><br><br><span style="color:green">To register your nickname (always worth doing so no one can steal it) Type: /msg nickserv register password emailaddress<br><br>Password can be whatever you want, email address is obvious.</span><br><br><span style="color:blue">To identify your nickname, which you will have to do now that you are registered, type: /msg nickserv identify password<br><br>Password is what you used to register.</span><br><br><span style="color:orange">If you want to do an action, for example:</span><br><br><span style="font-weight:bold">* Bella sits on bama</span><br><br><span style="color:orange">Then you type: /me sits on ? for example</span><br><br><br><br>So thats about it really. I know there is that new mirc thing, Trillian going around now, with msn, yahoo, aim and all that added in with it, however, I have no idea what to do with that, but if someone wishes to write a guide and have it added to here, please dont hesitate to pm me with it, or post it here and I will add it as soon as I can.<br> <br><br>Hope that helped people, for mirc, you really just need to experiment with it, you can choose different colours for text and your background, you can get logs done for all conversations, but I aint gonna write up a guide for everything, would be here all day. <br><br>So good luck and let me know if you have any problems.

Using Java to get into chat:<br>It is possible to get into via VP. Go to BarkPark and click on Chat. I prefer going through <a href="http://www.wikkedwire.com/javachat.html"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">www.wikkedwire.com/javachat.html</a> to get into chat. Both is possible.<br><br>If you try to connect and get a message like this:<br><br>Could not look up irc.wikked.us<br><br>Means that you need to update your Java client. Go to java.com and download the newest version.<br>Its also highly likely that its your browser that could be the problem. Internet Explorer is more likely to allow chat than FireFox.<br><br>If you try to connect and get a message like this:<br><br>Cannot join channel (+b)<br><br>Means you are banned. If you've never been in chat before, there's a high chance that you are caught up in a broad ban. PM an Op politely and they'll allow your nick to be allowed on.<br>AOL users will need to PM an Op. AOL does not control the people who use their services and can not track them, so it is best for the safety of minors to do a broad ban for them.<br><br>If you've been in chat before and misbehaved and have been banned, don't bother trying to get on chat other ways. Serve out your ban. Getting on while you are banned (aka ban walking) will only get you a longer ban. Ok?<br>Should you try to connect and get a message like
