Hello everyone, Lady C here! Ok, so I'll be hosting the Secret Santa this year and am wondering, before December starts, how many are interested and ideas on how we should do this!

I should be around more in the next little bit so I plan to be in :] Not exactly sure how they've been organized in the past but someone paired people up. Maybe put everyone's name in a hat and draw two at a time and pair them that way? There was also usually guidelines for the gifts to kinda keep it fair. That way everyone got something pretty good :]

I'm in. ^^ All I know is that you have to give a gift to get a gift from the rules of the previous secret santas and you can't tell the person whose secret santa you are that you are their secret santa because its supposed to be a suprise at the end.

Im pretty sure its just randomly give each person a name to give a gift to and dont tell them who they are getting a gift from as long as its a secret until the get their gift and each person gets and gives a gift to someone

I'm in! You could make a list of all the participants (keep it to yourself of course) and then when it starts have everybody pick a number? That would be who they have to give a gift to.

Also, if anyone's too poor to give a gift, I have gifties and vpc I can donate to them to be used as gift to their Secret Santa partner. Pm me if interested anyone. :P Only rule is you can't keep the giftie or vpc for yourself. You must give to your Secret Santa partner. Thanks. Also, I thought it would be a good idea to use a random number generator like Random.org. Since we currently have 12 people, we could put the Min in as 1 and the Max in as 12. Then click "Generate". For example, I just did a test and got the number 8. So,if we were going to go by that, my Secret Santa partner who I would need to give a gift to would be Wyldfire. You would then pm me that my Secret Santa partner is Wlydfire because they are number 8 on the list. However, we will throw the number 8 out since its just an example of how it would work and everyone's Secret Santa is supposed to be a suprise.^^ Oh and if it gives a repeat number that you already gave to someone else, just keep hitting "Generate" until it gives you a number that no one has. ^^

There should maybe be some way to make it fair so someone doeant say give a gift worth heaps (example 1oak) and end up recieving a gift worth not much (example 30oak) maybe a gift price range limit?

Hmmm...Maybe the gifties have to be under 20oak or perhaps 15oak or under or even 10oak or under? And for non-giftie dogs, they have to be either 9x4 or 10x4 dogs only and not mutts,so purebreds except Wolf Hybrids are allowed to maybe? Also, all dogs have to have a atleast half of their lifespan left still so you can't give a 10x4 dog that's already 10 years old to someone for example maybe? These are just suggestions. ^^

Loving your ideas everyone! Wow, so many people!

Ok, so JM your idea with the numbers is awesome. Also, thank you for posting what they did last year. Maybe we could use their dates? It's great your willing to donate something to those who want to participate but don't have anything to gift. For the gifts we could do kind of like how we did for trick or treat? With the prizes I mean. Could offer choices or something. If the dog is what your gifting having it intact would be nice.

I like the gift list in last years secret santa it seems fair, But having someone oversee the gifts to make sure people receive something fair in exchange for what they are giving might be something to look into. (preferably someone not entered in this)

yes kinda just to make sure let's say someone offers a gifty worth 3 mil is not paired with someone giving away 1 mil. so just to make the gift giving and receiving a bit equalised.

I agree with Frostbight8 - I know what I would like to give but it will have to be neutered or I will have to think of something else. But then again, it is also over the 5 mil limit so maybe it won't work even though it would be a very nice Christmas present for someone.

I understand that, but as a breeder if I got a dog for secret santa and I couldn't breed it with one of my dogs or at least have the option, I would be kind of upset. I also understand that even though I dislike neutering the dogs unless I'm releasing or retiring it, they do make great eventers.

I am a breeder as well, and as much as I think everybody would love to get breeding rights with their present, you should think about it from a breeder's perspective. Lets say you have worked very hard to breed a valuable dog that only you can currently obtain. You choose to give one of those dogs as a present, then all of the sudden there are more of that dog because the receiving end chose to breed. A good compromise may be the ability to request only a certain amount of litters, or that the puppies are not sold to anybody. I am certainly not looking for trouble (especially over something like a Christmas event!) and so if I'm coming off that way I apologize.

Maybe each person participating can list what they'd most like to receive? Then when you assign numbers you can pass that info along.... Like whoever handles assigning that would tell me 'You have to give a gift to _____, who would prefer vpc or an event dog.' Or 'You have to give a gift to _____, who would prefer an intact 10x4, a custom banner, or a gifty.' That way the person gifting has a good idea what to give, and the person receiving won't get something they don't like? I also have plenty to donate for anyone that would like to participate!
