Events
Events are one of the major activities for players in the game. You can earn money by hosting events (if you are a sponsor), betting on events or entering your own dogs in events.Creating an event
Sponsor only activity
Creating an event is pretty straight forward. To create an event, click the Events tab. From there, click the Create an event tab. Select your type of event and name your event. Click Next, then Select your level of event.
The level of the event is a score range of dogs. Score is awarded to dogs on how well dogs do verses how many competitors.
After you choose your score range, You can select your group of dogs you wish to enter your event. Be ware that if you limit too much, you may not get enough entries to run the event.
Depending on the event type you select, you may have an option to make it a team event . Select how many dogs you wish to be in each team there.
The purse is how much you wish to invest in the event. The higher you set the purse, the more money the entry fee is and the larger the cash award is for winning dogs. To adjust the VP economy, more cash is awarded to winners than you invest. When a dog enters your event, you get the purse X 5. If you invest 100 cash in an event, the entry fee would be 10, but each time a dog enters, you get 50 cash (this is from the audience the dog brings). The purse (award) is also multiplied by 5.
Running an event
Sponsor only activity
24 Hours after you created your an event, click to view your event. A quicklink is provided from your 'viewkennel' page (the magnifying glass on the dog house icon). Or you can go to Events tab and search for them. If there is 10 or more entries and it's your event, you will be given a link to run your event. Click it and it will execute the event. You may get a message saying if a record was broken during your event. You will also receive a message on how much fame you gained, this is based on the attendance of the event. It's not too exciting to watch the event being run (yet), but after its done you will get a link to view the results, check them out!
If your event does not get 10 entries, it may be run by a game administrator/master after a few days. If an event does not get at least 4 entries from two different players, it will be deleted after a few days.
Entering an event
To enter a dog in an event, first find the event you wish to compete in on the events tab, then click the link to view the event and the dogs already entered. At the bottom of the event page, you will see a drop down menu of all your eligible dogs.
If you do not have any eligible dogs, check to make sure your dogs are with in the score range of the events and the group type, and make sure the dogs have been "turned". Dogs may only enter 4 events per turn or week.
Up top on the event explains when the soonest the event can be run. Check back after that time to see how you did! You do not have to be present or online when the event runs, a message will be placed on your management page under "While You Were Away" if your dog wins anything.
Gambling, betting on dogs and recieving your cash.
A fun aspect of playing this game, is the gambling. It's a valuable tool to make easy cash! And lose some too, of course. The more people who bet, the more the odds fluctuate. You can bet up to 500 paycash. The amount you win is based on how 'long shot' the dog was that you bet on. The higher the odds are, the more money you win. If everyone bets on the same dog, and it wins, the most you can get is double your cash (with odds 2/1), and your money back. So If I bet 100 playcash on a dog that was 3/1, and that dog won, I would recieve 400 playcash as my winnings.
You can collect winnings on your bet, if the dog you bet on placed in the top 3. You will not receive the max amount if it did not win.
To collect winnings, you can visit the bookmarks section, or revisit the event after the results have been posted. When viewing the event, you can see a button to collect the winnings, if you won, to the right of the dog. Good luck!
Types of Events
There are several types of events, they are all judged differently, below you will see a table and approximately what each event is judged on.
All events have the 'god factor', a random element that may have a slight effect on your dogs score. All events also judge very slightly on the "Natural Stats" (the stars).
For now, the table can be found on the VP wiki site.
