Kitten!

For the past few days ive been visiting my mum and randomly we got started talking about kittens since her partner loves cats and theyd been wanting one for awhile we decided to get one. We couldnt find any oddly (being christmas theres usually alot looking for homes) when we found one final listing for two tabby kittens a boy and girl, my mother wanting only a boy kitten (since it wouldnt have its on litters before she get the chance to have it fixed) decided we had to go and look, after a few minutes we left there with both 8 week old kittens and she ended up with the female and i got the male :twisted: hehehe except that when i went to bring him home i was unable to keep him since i have 3 dogs and a cat already which might not get on so well with him, so my mums looking after him and i can visit often. So cyoooottt. I've been wanting a kitten for a while but the new place I stay the landlord says no pets

My other two cats (both 17 years old) are back home with my parents.

@Ivybear:Leon is so cute. Sorry you didn't get to keep him. @Haleemah: Woah. Cats live much longer than dogs. :shock: Anyway, that's too bad about your landlord though.

I dunno if it is cats in general or just mine

everyone freaks out when I tell them they are 17 and still act like their are 2. I've had them since I was a toddler

pretty sure we will still have them for a good while longer too haha.

My last cat lived to about 15 i think, had her since i was about 5 grew up with her my grandparents on both sides pf the family had cats live quite old one to 18 and the other to about 14 i think

Cats can live forreeevvveerrrr :P That's really weird that there wasn't many kittens! All my local pounds, shelters and rescue groups are absolutely overflowing! If you keep the kittens inside and don't let them out, then there's basically no chance of them creating more kittens. Most vets these days are okay with desexing before 6months as long as they're above a certain weight; one of my cats was desexed at 8wks. Anyway; Leon is absolutely adorable!

Yup thats pretty much what my mums doing is keeping them inside until theyre bigger though the female might not be fixed for awhile... ayways thanks Leons a cute kitten (although all kittens are cute) hes the relaxed calm kitten his first car trip (bringing him home) he fell asleep on my lap on top of my tshirt and only tried to climb up the door once when be saw my mum at the window outside (thats why he looks kinda alert and startle in the photo he was watching her hoping in the car) :P

I'm sure in NZ you can ask if the vets have a form you can fill out if you don't have much money, I'v been able to get a few of my cats fixed for half price with one of them winz cards. I'v got a mate who drives her kitten every where so he rides in the car with her too xD

I think thats what my mums planning on doing with the girl kitten, one of the spca like places does it im not sure. Ima a biy weary of her getting the gifl fixed though as about 15 or so years ago we got my last female fixed and she had breathing problems ever since (think it was the tube they used for ther to breath with or for the anasthetic or someting) Ive seen cats in the back of peoples windows i thought were toys only to discover they were actually alive and happily relaxing in the cars also saw this guy with his cat on a lead walking around town all the time

Also i was going through the photos i took of him in the car (that didnt have me in them!) Yeah the actual desexing operation would not have caused her breathing problems, though the ET tube certainly could have if it wasn't placed/removed correctly. Does NZ have a desexing month or something similar? I know this year in Aus, July was our month and majority of vets had half-priced desexing. I walk my cats on lead

Only in the backyard though. Took my oldest out on the street one time and she flipped out when a car drove past.. $:\$

Not sure if NZ has one of those. Im know the cat ive got at homes affraid of cars after being run over a few years back but i think Leon would be good on a lead.

NZ has had a year where the SPCA went around fixing cats for free, I'm not sure if they are gonna do that again, I still think its best to get her fixed or have her as a in door cat if your not going to, there are so many toms out there.

Yup, a cat i had a few years agoseemed to find them all because eveytime we went to get her fixed she was going to end up having another litter and mum didnt want to harm the unborn kittens so wed wait until they were born and off milk and by then she had another litter in line. Ill check it out and see if any off the vets around my mumd town do fixing cheaper since i think they only plan on her being an inside cat until they move

im visiting my mother at the moment so heres a 25day update on Leon my mother hasnt taken them ro be fixed yet unfortunately its late night here and from i can see he is pretty crazy ,hes not the calm kitten anymore but the girl is, allnight hes been climbing up tables and curtains while shes been sitting down watching tv anyways heres a picture of the brief few. seconds of Leon being calm <img src="http://i44.tinypic.com/anfqsw.jpg"; alt="http://i44.tinypic.com/anfqsw.jpg"; class="bb-image" />
