Events Glitching?

edited May 2013 in Questions/Support
Hello!

I've heard of imports beating higher stat'd dogs.
Inconsistency in where dogs place, & other stuff like that when it comes to eventing.

I was just looking for confirmation -- Is the events system actually bugged, or has it just been so renovated that it's grading on a completely different scale now?
And if it is bugged, is it currently a work in progress? Or are the programmers holding off on fixing the current system for the time being?

And, does anyone have a screen shot or remember that one little events FAQ that told you which stats the events originally judged?
Like how much each event was weighted, and yadda yadda.

Thank you :)

 • There's this <a href="http://ebilmoose.com/vp/wiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DogEventing"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://ebilmoose.com/vp/wiki/pmwiki.php ... ogEventing

But I know my dogs with high aggression fail at cattle herding when I thought they were supposed to get a bonus for it...
Also my mushers often beat dogs that have the higher stats and technically should be beating mine.
 • Herding is definitely messed up, dogs with good stats don't ever place the way they should. However, I do not know about conformation. There's no real count on the messed up events, despite there being quite a few.

As far as getting it fixed goes, I think the game owners have been notified, but it isn't being worked on. This is depending on how you look at it, I guess, because their main focus now is the beta, and getting that ready to launch. Ideally, eventing will score correctly again with the new coding.

 • <a href="http://virtualpups.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=76158"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">viewtopic.php?f=17&t=76158

From my experiences eventing (and I have not shown dogs regularly in all events) there are 3 event types that seem to score on the correct scale: Conformation, Racing, and Weight Pull. Many of the others seem to be randomized or scoring on a scale different from those in the Help files.

Events will not be fixed on VP1. All focus is directed toward Beta and getting it bug-free and ready to launch. As part of Beta, events should be adjusted so they all score according to the table in the Help files.
 • Thank you .clozobozo. -- Thats the exact guide I was looking for.

Does the events system always score differently?
Or is it every once in awhile it'll throw out completely random scores?
Does Beta have a tentative release date at this point?
I know Beta was still in the closed phase of testing when I left.

And herding has been iffy since right before I left.
Or... I just had really bad herding dogs :P

Thank you for all your input, guys <3

I believe the events that are broken consistently score incorrectly. I don't compete in them, however, so I cannot say that with absolute certainty. All events do have a degree of randomization so the same dog doesn't win 100% of the time, but some suffer from a lot more random factors than others.

There is no official tentative release date for Beta. It is open for testing. The more bugs that are reported, the sooner the code will be correct and ready to go live.
 • Mmm.
Ok. Sounds good.

Thank you, Aziu. :)

 • OH another question:

When the events guide says that an event judges on a positive height percentage (ie. 5%) --
Do they mean the dog being the EXACT breed height or the dog being TALLER than breed standard?

And if its a negative percentage, does it mean the opposite?
