Ermmm. Stop yelling!

edited September 2012 in Vent
Well, every night now my brother has been yelling "MY HOMEWORK IS HARD! I"M STUPID!" or "I HATE YOU MOM YOU DON'T EVEN HELP ME! ALL YOU DO IT SIT THERE AND YELL!!!" This has been going on for a month now? He has been saying some other things that aren't appropriate for his age. And when my mom calls his teacher for a parent conference he says " WHY ARE YOU WRITING THAT? I DONT HAVE MENTAL PROBLEMS! YOU ARE THE ONE WITH MENTAL PROBLEMS LADY!" -sigh- Any ideas for him to calm down? And the neighbors are starting to complain to us how loud it is. :l

-Ninja Cat

 • Wow that's not good. Maybe you could have a quiet word with him and offer to do his homework with him if you can? And try and convince him that yelling isn't going to solve the problem it will only make it worse. He may have some built up anger if you could talk to him and ask why he shouts all the time and get an answer, you could tell your parents why he's shouting all the time. But whatever you do. don't push him into telling you. If he knows that you'll be there when he's ready to talk that may help too. You could also tell your mom that her yelling back at him only makes it worse. She needs to calm herself down and come back when she is ready to talk to him and not yell. Since the problem could be that he feels that he has to tackle the hard stuff on his own and no one is willing to help him and they just shout at him.

I watch a lot of parenting shows so my advice comes from them.

Also if he plays a lot of violent computer games, that could be the problem. As they can be addicting and sometimes they can take over real life. What I mean by that is that they can cloud reality and what may be allowed in the games, he feels he is allowed to do in real life. Although that is just not acceptable.

I have also watched a documentary about video games and the effects they have on people as part of my college course, and I watched it more than once.

If you need someone to talk to about this PM me and I will help as much as I can :) I watch a lot of documentary's about children and teenagers , and how to curve behaviour and make it better, and also what makes children behave like that in the first place. I am not a mother, or a sister. But I look after my cousin's daughter sometimes who is under 10years old, and she has bad behaviour since she is attention seeking. Which could also be what your brother is doing, if he feels he doesn't get enough attention.
Agreed. Is the homework too hard for him because he doesn't understand the concepts? And maybe, exactly what Tiger said, the video games are influencing him and his actions.

Pm me!!!!!!!!
