Okay, so my iPod touch 4th generation of roughly two years has begun to fail. The home button on it no longer registers, at all. It is just loose. I have a feeling it either got disconnected or something is in there blocking it. I know it's getting up there in age (electronic wise), and I'll tell you right now it is well-loved. I don't think it has had a day where I didn't use it for something. Which is probably why the home button no longer works. I eat with it, I take it on vacation so I gets bumped around, it comes outside, it's everywhere! It's just that I feel Apple should redesign that, as it seems like a common malfunction. Not to mention the money I spend for protective casing and screen protectors in an effort to prevent things like this. An new one is roughly two hundred dollars, which isn't money I exactly have on hand.

Upon googling this, it seems very common, though there is no certain fix. It can always be opened up and you can fuss with the home button, but that seems to be more for stuck ones. The Apple store can fix it, but it is roughly a 150 dollar repair. Again, not paying that much! I expect this one to last without outrageous costing repairs. For that much I can basically go get a brand spanking new one.

My mom seemed to be for just getting a brand new one, but after Christmas when people have given me money as a gift. XD My problem with that is that the iPod 5th generation is right around the corner, rumored to be released in September. Which would be great, get the newest model! But what if it doesn't? What if it comes out after Christmas? Then I'll have bought myself another 4th generation when I could've just waited a month or so and gotten the new one. I just don't know what to do. Opinions?
