• How do you long groom and short groom (what does that mean) - Long groom generally are to around 10-12 years of age; this is usually used for lines, and raises stats as high as possible in order for the best statted pups possible on the next generation. Short grooms are for less time, probably around 5 years.

How many turns should it take to train a dog - this depends on the training. A higher statted dog can be skill and stat maxxed between two and four years, if done properly. Imports may take much longer - especially to aggro cap.

I have a sponsor account but would like to link other accounts to it but don't know how - if you have other novice accounts, then log onto them, go to management> link account to sponsor, and then fill in your sponsor's log-in details. This should link the accounts.

How do I get my loyalty, adapt and courage up higher so I can do better in events. - Loyalty is raised by long grooming. It is capped at 600. Adapt and courage can be raised very slowly by long grooming, but is usually raised by boarding a dog in a boarding kennel for long periods of time. - In instance, I've boarded by dogs for probably around two years in a boarding, and their courage and adapt has raised by around 400 over that time.

Hope that helped :D PM me if you have any more questions ^.^

Thanks for any advice direction help![/quote]

 • How do you long groom and short groom (what does that mean)
Long groom is basically grooming the dog for a long time. Such as 12 years. A Short groom would be only a couple of years or stat maxxing

How many turns should it take to train a dog
Theres no real answer for that. Some dogs take longer depending on stats. I can usually train a dog over 3x4 til the age of 2 or 2 and a half. • You guys are all so great thank you so much!! Someone asked me to train their dog and I think that I know what it means but I want to be sure before I take on the dog, again I know how much time I put in my dogs I don't want to mess anyone elses up. They asked me to groom ---aggro to 250 then groom to 12/12.5.2
 • How do you long groom and short groom (what does that mean)-
Well it explains above what they are so I'll explain how to.Groom the dog until endurance is at 160(sometimes earlier) then groom x6 till the age that is wanted

I dont agree with this. I dislike super groom and pass up anyone who uses it. It makes the dogs loyalty and other stats go up a bit slower and they never seem to reach the same max that they normally would unless theyve changed it since the last time i tested it. I just use regular groom the entire time
 • Really?Does it work better? Most of the trainers I know use it and not groom
 • I believe it cuts down on loyalty in the end.. as in a suepr groom does the other stats but loyalty still ends up with .02 and it can be used 3x a turn, hence .06 a turn but a regular groom can be clicked 6 times a turn so it equals .12 a turn.
 • Like i said, i havent tried it in a while. They mightve changed it or something but i prefer not to use it because it did that.
 • Ya I'll check it out when I get the time
 • Sure thing. Lemme know how it works out for ya
 • There is no real significant stat difference between super groom and regular groom. If you are doing a long groom, loyalty will cap anyway and it won't make much of a difference. I suppose if you're training for eventing purposes, where you don't groom til 11/12 then it might be a bit more helpful to reach loyalty cap sooner.

Loyalty increase with super groom: 1.201
Loyalty increase with regular groom: 0.201 x 6 = 1.206

In a 12.5 year groom, you would get a 50 loyalty bonus by doing all regular groom, assuming you could get 6 grooms in every single turn (no playing) and never missing even a single one. Obviously you have to start taking into account all the turns used up for playing and any misses that you might make.

Super groom can cut down training time by 50% or more once you get the hang of it. For me, I used to be anti super groom. I hated it. I believed it was evil and would do damage, but then I actually decided to give it a try. It cut my training time down at least 65%. The only difference with the endurance amount stated above (160) is that I start super groom at 145. I like old fashioned grooming, but I reserve that for decoys.

Also, might I add, constant refreshing and such can really damage your wrists. I used old fashioned grooming for over five years on this site and I have carpal tunnel. (I attribute it to the excessive training.) It helps a lot when I use super groom because I don't have as much pain as quickly.

If you want a significant loyalty difference, when a dog has loyalty under 100, use potty train until it hits 100 loyalty. Potty train offers more loyalty per train than groom. This helps greatly with imports and makes a huge difference. I can easily tell when an import was started with potty train or groom.

I want to just show two links and then I'll be done with my thing. :P
Dog trained by me: <a href="http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2019536"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2019536
Dog trained by someone else: <a href="http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2019534"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2019534

There is a huge difference in all stats. We were both given the same training notes, and that is why I train my own dogs.

 • Thats great info anna. As a show trainer i prefer to get their loyalty as high as possible as soon as possible so they will show better. Thanks. Very helpful <3
 • WOW you guys are so much help! Thank you so much for your support... Another questions...

What is this import business, I don't get it.. I am training an import right now and people have so many of them but their stats are so low why have them?
 • Imports are the beginning dogs basically. They have no parents therefore no outside influences from others. If i were going to start a line of dogs all my own i would start with imports. Only sponsors can import dogs and they only are able to import a few with each kennel renew.
 • Again thanks for the help with the import questions, now what about these gifties what are they all about?
 • Gifties are custom colored dogs. You can purchase a dye for $9 USD or you can buy one off of someone else. You can also just purchase an already dyed animal from another player.

They really don't serve a purpose other than to display something that the creator imagined, desired, or was inspired by. My current thing with dyes/gifties is to create different sets related to my favorite TV shows/movies, but I've created colors for memorial dogs or memorial events. It's easier to create a color that means something to you.

The fewer of a color there is, the more value the dog holds. There's no point in paying several million for a giftie who is one of a hundred. Just a quick note, players will refer to a dog's rarity by oak (of a kind) -- so 1oak, 2oak, 105oak, etc. I think most collectors prefer colors to be under 5 of a kind.

<a href="http://virtualpups.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=48386"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">This is a really good guide if you want more information on gifties, how to create them, etc.

It's specific to each dog or where the stats are at. :) The dog I tested it out on had all stats around 50-60. I was actually surprised the thing would take a super groom without exhausting.
