Horse Job?!?!

Well a little background here. Yall all probably know this but i was given a two year old ex racehorse three months ago. I gave her a while off and have recently started slowly retraining her. She's a sweet girl and ive got her side passing on the rail and ive been teaching her how to rein better and weve gone on trail rides and i even cantered her a few strides though im cautious about it. <br><br>Anyways. The lady who gave me Nova came out yesterday to look at her and visit and see how she was doing. I had her saddled and i took her around and showed her off and the people were stunned and happy about how well she's doing. I introduced them to my other horses and we visited for a while and they left and we had a good time. Well she called me today and gave me the number of a track that is around here. They had been talking to this track owner (where they start theyre two year olds) and the owner wants me to work for her!!!!!!! This is perfect! Its only on weekends so my studying on weekdays will be just fine and ill get the experience so i might be able to make it into the equine portion of the college i want to attend! Also its that much more experience for me as a rider and trainer!!!

    Im soo excited! I have no idea what ill be doing but any horsey job is fine with me! Id be happy mucking out stalls but the way the lady i know said it id be working with horses in some way. MAYBE even riding. My mom seems to think ill be working with foals (as i already work with foals for money) I guess well see when she returns my call!

    Haha, you're fairly close. Animal Kingdom won the Kentucky Derby in May. Drosselmeyer pulled off the Breeder's Cup today. Same racetrack, though! <br><br>Funny thing though, the jockey on Drosselmeyer was Mike Smith, who rode Zenyatta in the same race in 2010. Zenyatta lost, and was defeated, and this year, Smith made up for it with Drosselmeyer. (Also beating his ex-girlfriend..) XD

    Haha!! I was close! To tell ya the truth i dont know much about racing. Im more of a reining kinda girl BUT i do know some of the bigger TB names. And a bit about training racers. I think my favorite TB would be Ruffian. Lucian Lauren (secretariats trainer) stated in an article that he believed she could have beaten secretariat in a match race. She was gorgeous and met a tragic end doing what she loved doing. Poor baby. Other than that im partial to King Mambo, but mainly because he's my baby's grandsire.

    A Secretariat/Ruffian match race would've been something.. You know they found that Secretariat's heart was larger than the average horse's? <br><br>Have you seen the movie Ruffian? Oh, goodness..

    I actually did hear that! Something about his heart was larger and allowed him to run faster and longer due to better blood flow. And no i have looked for it but never found it x.X urgh. Also like Native Dancer... but again... due to my girls bloodlines haha! Her sire is Parade Ground.

    Oooh! Definitely like his build. He's 16 years old this year.. Has a few graded stakes wins under his belt. Sired a champion in Puerto Rico. 2k stud fee. (Googled him..) Nova has his legs, I think..<br><br>Me like! Who's her dam?

    Truth be told i couldnt tell you off the top of my head *blushes* Id have to get her papers out and look. I remember it was a funky name but i cant remember for the life of me. Id go look but they're through the living room and we have company that's asleep in there so i really don't wanna go thromping through there right now!

    o.o Lucky Person you Are i would love to work with horses. Just soo Not in the right state.. or area either ): Bleh Cant even own my own horse.. Though i did have a horse that "Adopted" me at one point. Had Fun training it. Have you Heard Of the Parelli (sp?) Challenge?

    Hm.. Havent looked much into that But yes the Parrali Family is a Little Weird But their methods are awesome. The horse i trained would follow me off lead into the stable. i even got close enough to him that i trained both him and i to do free reign jumping (No tack at all)

    Thats pretty cool. I just dont udnerstand the Parellis. Clinton explains everything perfectly for me. Ive gone so far as to buy his training tapes but they are amazing <3 plus i have a thing for australians ;D

    Ive never done jumping. I just got my english saddle.... like.... 3 or 4 weeks ago? And the only horse i have that CAN jump is a speed monster so i dont think ill be doing anything bridleless with her for quite a while. My TB is only two so jumping is not smart with her legs as theyre not formed, plus she's got a bone spur in her knee and im not willing to hurt her just to jump. Id love to learn to jump with my QH though.
