You WANT a Chihuahua?! What kind of person are you?! XD JK
the term apple head is used to describe any chihuahua with a round or ‘dome-like’ head similar to the shape of an apple. the upper part of the chihuahua’s skull is wider than the lower part in the jaw area.

if you look close at the top of the skull of most chihuahuas, you will notice that it is slightly sunken in just like the top of an apple. this area is called molera, a spanish word for ‘fontanel’, or any membranous gap between the bones of the cranium in an infant or fetus and it is similar to the ‘soft spot’ that human babies have on their heads upon birth.
the term deer head is used to describe any chihuahua that does not have the characteristic apple shaped head. deer head chihuahuas tend to have a longer noses and a head shape similar to that of a miniature young deer. they also tend to have less chihuahua health problems.

There are really only the two different varieties of long coat and short coat.
The apple and deer head is just a way to describe the shape of the head. And teacup is just a way of describing the size. (Though I do not recommend getting a Chihuahua from a 'teacup chihuahua breeder'.. They tend to just breed and breed and breed some more. They're usually from puppy mills that treat dogs like products)
I recommend rescue if you're just looking for a pet or companion event dog.

But they're the same breed either way with the head shape, like how people think that 'blue nose' APBT's are a separate breed from normal APBT's.

I was just reading up and it says AKC only accepts Chihuahuas with "apple heads" as their breed standard.
I'm definitely not getting a "teacup," I know all about the crap that people do to sell them and make money. I was looking at an at-home breeder in a town nearby from me. (:
My baby is an applehead chihuahua lol i love her to death and miss her sooo much. I hate living six hours away from her!
She's AKC registered as well lol They don't do well with small children though, and tend to bark a LOT. But i LOVE my chihuahua. i wouldn't get another but only for the reason that if i ever did, it would never be good enough for me. id compare it to heaven (my chi) and think it wasnt good enough and would wind up resenting it... =( my chi has snapped at my neice and nephew and she get super nervous around them and shakes a lot when they are over. she dislikes all small kids. now that my nephew is older (10-11) she sits by him and begs for his attention (shes an attention hog lol she will crawl up in your lap and put her front paws onyour chest so you cant see around her and wag her tail at you) lol i love chihuahuas (fave breed) but one is enough for me. shes super hyper sometimes but it also relaxed. The pictures you provided are def applehead =D
I'm able to tell whether one is applehead or not now. (: I love the applehead Chi's! Too cute! It sucks you live so far away from yours. ):
I'm really hoping to get a male but my family already has three dogs. The breeder I'm looking at raises them from home and has them around a lot of people/kids/big dogs/etc. so I don't think that the dogs from there would have to many issues with little kids. (There aren't any really little kids around my household now).
yea it was so weird. my puppy is an applehead but her brother is a deerhead 0.0 i guess Heaven got her daddys build and Scooter (her bro) got their moms build xD
