Oh Pookie, what am I going to do with you?

Some and some don't know about my dog Pookie. She is a 14 pound Shih-Tzu, who is extremely nosey. Today, however, I think she reached an all time nosiness. We came home, and there was no Pook anywhere, she's normally waiting at the door to greet us, but this time, there was no Pook. We looked in her favorite spot, the shoe closet, where she often busts into and sleeps on our shoes. Yep! She does no harm to the shoes, just sleeps on them. Probably smells like us. Anyway, she wasn't there. We could here her crying, though. Eventually, I found her in the lazy susan in the kitchen! Literally in it! Somehow, she pushed it open, and kept walking. This is really hard to explain.

So, this is the lazy susuan when it is shut.
<a href="http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/dd467/prettypook/6fd050ef.jpg"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/dd4 ... d050ef.jpg

Where my hand is is where Pook somehow got caught in, except it was open all the way and that little space was hiden. We think she was either trying to get a treat that fell behind there (we keep her treats in this cabinet) or a mouse went into there and Pook was following it.
<a href="http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/dd467/prettypook/4b795ccd.jpg"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/dd4 ... 795ccd.jpg

And then the size of Pookie:
<a href="http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/dd467/prettypook/40726844-1.jpg"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/dd4 ... 6844-1.jpg

This seems kind of funny now, but it really wasn't at the time. Pook could've gotten hurt in there, and we weren't even home to help. No one knows how long she was in there, we were gone for a few hours..

 • OK, at first I thought you wrote that she was very noisy, and I was wondering what getting inside a lazy susan had to do with that. Then I re-read it. :D

Anyways..I think all dogs are nosey to a point. You can't stop them from sniffing something and suddenly wanting to check it out. Have you tried putting her in one specific room when you go out? Somewhere where she can't get into anything? Otherwise I'm not sure how you would solve the problem. Puppy proofing everything?

Sorry I can't be more help...your dog is very cute by the way!

 • Well, this is her first time doing anything like this. She normally just sleeps the whole time. My stepdad insisted on locking her in the cage for the longest time.. But we finally fought that. And Pook is no puppy, she turned 3 a few months ago!

 • Haha, I know. But some dogs stay a puppy for much longer. My aunt's 3 year old golden thinks she's still a puppy.
