No one in my family can clean up after themselves!! It drives me insane!
All I ask is that they clean their dishes, and keep the sink and counters clear. I get so sick of not being able to eat anything, because there are so many dirty dishes in the sink that I can't wash pots, pans, bowels, or utensils, so that I may cook. A couple months ago I spent 2 weeks cleaning the whole house all by myself, so that I could have people over, and the new rule became "Wash your own dishes before you leave the kitchen." Everyone was following it really well for a long time, but now my brother is leaving dirty dishes on the table, and my mom is leaving dirty dishes in the sink and dirty pots and pans throughout the kitchen. My absolute pet peeve is that both of them will use the ice cream scoop, and then just set it right on the counter and leave it. It leaves melted ice cream spots, and the nastiest thing is that they'll just pick it up after it's been sitting there for days and use it again without washing it!My other pet peeve is that they'll use the cutting knives, and then not wipe them off, so food gets caked on. It's so disgusting to want to cut up an apple, but when I pick up the knife there is cheese, crumbs, and other things stuck to it!

I'm sick and tired of being labeled the "bad guy" because I remind them of the rule, when they break it. You'd think that if they didn't want me constantly going "You know, you left dirty dishes in the sink." then they would learn to clean up after themselves. I'm tired of the "I'm busy" and "I don't have time" excuses. It takes 30 seconds to wash a plate off while the food is fresh! How is that SO inconvenient?!It's better than spending 5 minutes the next day having to scrub the food off, because it dried on! Use common sense!
