I just made an account on here after posting on VHR as well. I am fostering a beagle until August and could use some guidance from experiences beagle owners

About her:

She's a she
She's 9 years old, but acts about half that
We are her 2nd owner, and she is being returned to her original owner in August
They had her since puppy-hood.
She has a partially collapsed trachea, so she is walked with a harness
Used to an electric fence/shock collar
She has a very sensitive stomach and can only eat one certain food
She is an Angel when she is indoors (her name is also Angel)
As soon as she gets outside and picks up a scent I am invisible. This is my problem.

I know its the beagle instinct, but she listens so well indoors I dont think it will be entirely too hard to train her to listen outdoors. Like I said she is 9 years old, so for 9 years she has been allowed to pull at the harness and has been allowed to ignore calls due to the electric fence. I aim to end that. We have had her for a little over a week, and from what I can tell, she is a very easy learner. She already knows what rooms and furniture she is/isnt allowed on. She knows basic commands well. She is a total sweetheart. BUT as soon as we are outside she is deaf and in her own world. I've already ordered a shock collar, and its what I plan on using since she has had prior training with one, and from what I can tell, she will respond. My overall goal is to have her respond to my voice and come when she is called, like she does so well indoors. I have a large backyard to practice this in. If you think Im wrong to resort to this, feel free to change my mind, but I dont want this to be a debate. Let me know what you think I should do or how I should do it, ect. Also, am I aloud to post the link to the shcok collar I ordered? If anyone wants to see it PM me. And if you wanna see a pretty pic of Angel lemme know
