O.O Nikon? -or- Canon?

dfhaskljdhal! So Mom asked me to write out my Christmas list, and I did. As she was looking over it, she goes "So...what was that camera you wanted?" gjkklsdfg?!??!? That was a MAJOR hinty hint at what I might be getting XDDD Now, I've ALWAYS wanted a Canon EOS 45D, but as I was scanning a magazine, I found a Nikon D70. I don't know which one I like better! SO which do you prefer? Canon? or Nikon? Do you have a favorite camera? HALP MEHHEH!

Nikon has always impressed me. If I was buying a camera above $1000, it would be a Nikon without a doubt. Canon is also amazing, but would be my second choice. At the moment I'm looking for a good beginner DSLR that is reasonably priced. I'm highly impressed by Pentax's K-x, K-7, and K-r. The K-x won TIPA's best entry level DSLR camera for 2010, and ranges from $400-$800 depending on where you buy it, and what comes with it. I'll probably settle for the K-x, use it until I'm in the market to jump up a more advanced DSLR, and then purchase a Nikon.

I've always love photography but I still don't know much about it. I wanted a DSLR and ended up getting a Canon Rebel XS. From talking to several people they said that it was probably the best beginner camera for the money. Paid a little less than $500 for it. I love my camera.

I was just looking at a Canon Rebel XS 10.1mp on the Canon sitr and I'm actually thinking of putting that one on my list. Does it have a rapid shoot kind of thing, where you can shoot numerous photos in a row without having to wait for each photo to process? And do you have lens preferences?

I'm a little embarressed that I have a "fancy" camera and I still don't know much about it. I have a macro lens and the lens that came with it. I'd kill for a telephoto lens right now. Yes, it does have a rapid shoot. I love it! In my experience, the camera does a lot better in natural lighting. When the sun just comes up or just goes down, it sucks...

No need to feel embarressed! I think the kit I was looking at comes iwth a 18-55mm lens and a macro lens which I am PUMPED about ^.^ Yay for rapid shoot! Thank you so much zagari for your help!

I like Canons for photography, but I have a little touch screen Nikon because it's neat XD My mom has an awesome Canon photography camera.

Nikon, all the way ;D I have one, and I absolutely love it. I'm sure you've seen my photography before... but it does an awesome job. Your photography is nice, so I'm certain any camera you get, you will do well with ^.^ Mine is very durable. I've never owned a Canon, but I've heard they're nice as well from several people. Usually people pick a side and stick with it, though, and I'm a Nikon person xD

Canon has much better quality. I've never been big on Nikon, but Canon has always impressed me, even their small pocket digital cameras.

Untrue. Even if I'm a Nikon fan, I agree they have very similar quality. Even professional photographers say this.

They are different, but just as good. Anyone who tries to tell you that one or the other are garbage isn't paying attention, and most likely doesn't have the other to sell you. Nikon and Canon compete so heavily against each other that if one really were better or worse they would have gone out of business long ago.

I completely agree with you Nickel, and I'm also a Nikon fan as well. For the most part Nikon and Canon are extremely similar, but it depends on what cameras you are comparing. Obviously a Nikon pocket camera won't live up to the same quality of Canon DSLR, and vice versa. Overall the companies and their camera quality is just too similar to definitively say one is better than the other, which is why Nikon and Canon are my #1 and #2 cameras. I put Nikon in my personal #1 spot mostly because some of my favorite photographers use them, and because Nikon has been around longer.

I think Canon.Be warned Canon(the pocket ones) take horrable pictures with non moving things.Its the best for animals,and people.Ive never had a big Canon,or a Nikon.But ive heard better for a Canon. Pick what you like better ;D. Get on the web and look at the reviews!

Well I didn't get the camera itself for Chrsitmas but I did get a bet. My mom said if I can get all A's and B's second semester, I can get a nice camera ^.^ I'm thinking that Nikon D50 does seem pretty darn nice, even though I am a Canon fan XD

I don't see much differnt between the both but I'v always used cannon xD.
