The beauty, d'Artanian

We got a new cat today xD He's technically my mother's cat, but he seems to have made me his buddy. He's a beautiful tuxedo cat. He's part rag doll.
The other rag doll cat, Albert, who was full blooded rag doll, didn't work out. The lady decided she wanted to keep him.

Well, you know how PetSmart and PetCo and all those other places do adopt-a-thons on the weekends. Mom and dad went and got him.
His original name was Pepper, but we renamed him d'Artanian, after one of the Three Musketeers. He's about a year old, and he's hiding under my bed. He loves to be brushed and didn't put up too much of a fuss when we bathed him [he had poop on his rear], surprisingly, and likes to lick and affectionately bite.

Now, I'm not much of a dog person. I love dogs, yes, and I own three, but cats are my favorite, because of their temperament and how little you need to care for them. Plus, they tell you when they want attention and when they don't want attention.

He's not declawed, so any tips on cutting his front nails would be wonderful. He has, however, fluffed up the carpet on the stairs some. xD

He's licking himself in this picture. • As for clipping his claws, try to make it as non-invasive as you can. Such as keep the clippers nearby and if you can get him comfortable and relaxed, try to get one or two claws. Be careful of the quick. It's easier on cats since their claws are white, but you really only need to get the sharp tip.

Clipping their claws won't make them less likely to use the stairs/furniture to "sharpen" their claws though, so your best bet is to supply other things for him to use and use a water bottle/gun to deter him from using inappropriate things.

Good luck and congrats, he looks quite handsome.

 • He's so handsome! Congrats.
I've always wanted to name a cat Preston, haha. (:
You can buy "caps" for his nails if nothing works to stop him from clawing furniture and such. We used to buy ours at the vet's because our Siamese scratched walls, couches, beds, etc. and we couldn't get her to stop. You glue them on and when the nails get too long, they just fall off.
