Well ive been asking my friends what they want to do when they grow up. Some say lawyers,pediatritians. When they ask me i say, Ncis, Or the Isreal Musad. they ask me why are my jobs at hand so dangerous. Then the qustion pops up in my head. Why are your jobs so...dull? So now im askin you,what do you think about this?

If you go along the lines of "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life." then, they probably don't find their selected careers dull at all. The potential dangers of a career are not a measure of how good or bad that career is. Pick one you like, one that you will always find enjoyment in. I'm in college to become a herpetologist that specializes in venomous desert species like Gila monsters, and rattle snakes. One mistake when handling those species and their venom could kill me. I selected that career path, because I love the desert and I love reptiles. I also think they are unappreciated, and have a lot to offer the medical world. I'm sure plenty people would classify this career as dangerous, and exciting; However, if I could make a living off it, I would love to just sit around and grow cacti and succulents all day, because I enjoy them. It's not a dangerous job, and it's not a dull job(to me), but I'd be more than happy doing it for the rest of my life. In the end it's all about perception.

I was going into Forensic Science such as NCIS or Zoology which means I would be in the cages of large cats taking care of them or out in the wild with wild animals. Many people found that as "dangerous" I did more studying on both of those and found that they would be boring to me. I've decided to go into Nursing and Pharmaceutical Technology

So I agree with Sushi, It comes down to what YOU would enjoy doing. It may be dull to others but you may love it

I don't see where it's fair to call someone else's job choice Dull, when to them, they may love what they are doing and it isn't dull at all

I don't really see why you are venting about this. There is nothing wrong with becoming a laywer or doctor, nothing wrong with any career as long as you enjoy it. Being a doctor may be a more common job, but that does not mean it is easy or boring. Really, there is no need to vent about this, it doesn't matter what career someone wants to have.

Maybe your friend who wants to be a pediatrician thinks helping little children is scary? I honestly don't know which would be worse: being in a room with a scary animal, or an enraged child. I think your friends just have a different sense of adventure. :]

There is a chance iluvdogs111 took it offensively if the career she is interested in is a common job, as it did pretty much came off as "If you don't have a dangerous job, then you have a dull job." Well, that's the message I got from it. It's hard to be nicer than how you feel when you're offended. To me it wasn't the best response, but it wasn't the worst either. It was an honest response. I am, however, a person that is not fond of sugar coating everything, so maybe I'm just not as sensitive to it as others.

I agree with you though Sushi. I try to be nice but when I get offended I don't sugar coat things. This post didn't offend me in any way I just decided to state my opinion on it

I was not trying to be rude...I just stated my opinion. Sorry if it came across as rude to you, but the only thing I said was I didn't see a need to vent about this, and people should be able to choose whatever job interests them.
