My dog can piddle where she pleases!

edited September 2010 in Vent
So, I took Lyla outside to go pee and I only take her to two different spots (in the back of the apartments where the woods are or up front under a shady tree.) Well, I saw this old lady earlier this morning she just kind of stared at me (it was when I was up front) and I was just thinking she was looking at the puppy, but she didn't say anything like most people do. Well, I took her out just now and she drove up she started walking but then stopped and turned and then said "I hate to say anything but the dog walk is right over there" (across from my cousin's apartment building) I just told her "I know" then she was like "Well, we park our cars over there..." (Lyla was playing in the GRASS under the tree, not on the sidewalk or parking places) I just looked at her funny and told her that I clean her poo up. She had the audacity to say "Well, we still step in it" um, you don't know me or my dog...I clean up her crap so it's not hers you are stepping in (I admit I don't clean it up in the back because it's the woods, but I do up front.) Not only that, at the dog walk there is poop EVERYWHERE and no shade. Lyla still has to have 3-4 more sets of shots and I WILL not risk her health for your $20 shoes, she could get overheated in the sun too, reason being I take her to a shady tree.

Some people.

 • Correct me if I'm wrong, but if it's public land, you have her leashed, clean up after her, and there are no signs posted that say you can't have a dog over there, then it's in your rights to let her play and potty there regardless of what some random person thinks. When she said "Well, we still step in it" you should have just told her that makes no sense, or she's stepping in the poo of another dog, because you clean up after Lyla. Some people just want reasons to complain.

I don't like dog parks either, and will NEVER take my animals there, even with their shots and parasite prevention. I think you're being a responsible owner. You know Lyla isn't done with her shots, so it would be completely stupid to expose her to that.

 • Thank you! There where no signs and she was the only person to ever say anything, but I see other people walk there dogs around that area all the time, it's just a lot cleaner...except I saw some that wasn't cleaned up but it was too big to be Lyla's and it wasn't in her area. lol. Even if I didn't clean it up it's small and hides in the grass. Unlike my cousin's who don't clean up there pit bulls poo, and I saw a guy with a lab and golden/poodle mix who didn't clean up there's and there was A LOT of it and I am sure they aren't the only ones.

You're not hurting anyone.
Why do old people have to be so cranky? lol ^_^
