In every established community there are secret laws. These little pieces of information are usually only seen by the keen eyes of the older, experienced citizens that can identify and acknowledge them for their own advantage while the new players struggle to understand these little tricks of the trade, but usually and ultimately fail unless given some insight. Very rarely on extreme occasions, if not at all, these shadowed laws are placed upon paper by bold, dark ink for the new eyes of the inexperienced to see. Usually due to the lack of interest in the older players, or lack of time, or it never occurred to them during their busy daily routine. Either way, these hidden rules are seldom said since they happen so naturally in the community and it is taken as a second way of nature, like rain during the storm. So, after much thinking, I’ve decided to regurgitate some rules I noticed inside our little community on Virtualpups. It’s mostly done for humor or fun little facts for the new or old players to muse about.

VP Law # 1: If Oriyana is online, somewhere in the depths of the server, there is a kennel waiting to be snatched by Rescue kennels. This theory is backed up significantly if there is a Tarnish and Nickel online at the same time.

VP Law # 2: Almost always, it seems like nobody reads the Help forum before spamming chat for the much needed help, and most likely won’t read them until strictly redirected to the Help Forum.

Vp Law # 2.5: If person is not answered within five seconds, correctly on the dot, they leave chat right before a person answers their question.

VP Law #2.6: Then they return to ask again and the players lose hope and pitifully look at the Ops for much needed help. The inquisitor might leave again due to the lack of responses or dislike of responses, depending on the person.

VP Law #3: You’re considered extinct if you’ve been playing as long as Tara, or nearly as long.

VP Law #3.5: Relatively, you’re old if you know she hates pink and you happen to be one of her thousands, adopted, crazy children.

VP Law #4: Everybody knows Cappio’s kennels and the variety of dogs they have for sale or stud. Yet… nobody exactly knows who they are.

VP Law #5: Everybody you know has access to a Sp. Training Kennel of some sort, but you always see them advertising “SPONSOR TRAINERS NEEDED”. Curious.

VP Law #6: If you asked any competitor in the events what their wish would be, it’d be to annihilate all of Nickel’s dogs.

VP Law #7: Your art post isn’t complete or worth posting without putting the word “(Insert artistic or spiffy saying) Dump” on the Artist Alley.

VP Law #8: You like using the term “OAK” during auctions or selling, but never thought who created it the abbreviation.

VP Law #9: Everybody wants some of Evlon’s artwork, but never can get a hold of her.

VP Law #9.5: If they do see her online, she flees almost instantly like a jittery rabbit and is never to be seen again before contact about her artwork.

VP Law #10: The most mature person in a citizen’s group of friends is usually and surprisingly, especially to the group of friends who had no clue, the youngest. However, this isn’t a concrete theory, but isn’t uncommon.

VP Law #11: The Auction Forum is where people make the most money in their whole Vpian Career.

VP Law #12: If there’s a hidden reserve in an auction, you can guess it’s at least 75% (at the very least) of the BIN.
VP Law #12.5: The reason for the hidden reserve is to make bidders go on frenzy of high bids, thus making better money for the auction holders.

VP Law #13: Hundreds of artists flock to the Art Contest board and will say they’ll participate, but only handful will ever enter.

VP Law #14: If you have an extremely well-done banner on the forums, you’re immediately crowned superior. A fine example will be Nickel, who says, “that is true ;D since mine are well done and I’m certainly superior.” *

VP Law #15: Experienced players put “Don’t send advertisements to me!” on their kennel in hopes of players would read and leave them alone, but usually are flooded with advertisements anyways.

VP Law #16: Nobody messages others about their stud fee or dog price of “2147483647” because, frankly, who has the energy and time to do that?

VP Law #17: Your kennel isn’t professional until it has had millions invested on it with priceless, intricate layouts and swanky, lyrical banners.

VP Law #17.5: It looks even more professional if you add a viewer counter and put a “Don’t message me advertisements!” or “Dogs not for sale unless put up for sale!”

VP Law #18: Citizens who own the best show dogs or dogs will probably never in their whole career make as much as graphic makers. Ever.

VP Law #19: It’s too common to see a citizen go and buy a training kennel to only sell it back within a few weeks to a couple of months.

VP Law #20: Citizens who buy Sp. Upgrades with VPC are broke…until they need another upgrade.

VP Law #21: Many Citizens in the chat room with Homework at the end of their names are actually online, but want to feel like they’re accomplishing something while blabbering.

VP Law #22: If Prince Sushi doesn’t reply to your post, something terrible must be wrong or you need to bump it.

VP Law #23: To be honest, whenever something bad happens citizens always give the misfortunate soul a cookie. What about the cake?

VP Law #23.5: Because the cake is a lie.

VP Law #24: Other citizens wonder how the hell certain players break the five thousand post marker because they were never caught posting.

VP Law #25: Before players let someone train their dog, they inspect the kennel. If it looks like an expensive layout, yes. If not, they’ll stare at your grammar and spelling, and if the person uses chat-speak they most likely will ‘mysteriously’ disappear.

VP Law #25.5: And if you try contacting them again, it won't work.

VP Law #26: The older citizens of VP usually and most likely have code names, varying greatly upon their mood or situation.

Vp Law #26.5: Nickel has too many of these that all the experienced players recognize.
