I'm thinking about...

edited August 2010 in Vent
Permanently leaving VP. Not a break. Not a time when I break down and come back, no. Seriously, honest to God, quitting.
Because people piss me off. :D
No, not that. Well, some of that. But. I'm just too busy. Friends, family. I'm trying to get my credits together so I can get out of this hellhole of a state and go home. Because, like in the Wizard of Oz, "There's no place like home." 8 years is honestly long enough to be here, I can't stand it, I don't adjust to places I absolutely HATE. Like North Carolina. So, I figure, go home, start over. Get my Midwest accent back, so I don't sound funny. Besides, better school systems.

Plus, my entire dad's side of the family lives in Columbus, my mom's in Cincinnati. They're an hour and a half away from each other, so I can visit often during weekends and holidays and whatever.
So. We'll give it a week, I'll have to see.

And now Lupe is tickling my feet, so I must go ):

  • Do you even play VP? All I really notice you do is post on the forums. Mostly venting xD
I don't get how people on VP can really be making you mad when all you do is post on the forums... though I might make you mad now for saying this. Who knows.

But, I moved to the state I'm in two years ago. I hated it at first, but I've learned to adjust. If you can't adjust to a place and learn to like SOMETHING about it in 8 years, then I think you're just trying to hate it. I hate a lot of things about my new state, but I've found many I love as well. I'd love to move back to my home state, but I don't find time to hate things. It's too stressful and annoying for someone to hate things all the time.

Besides, I've heard NC is very pretty. I personally love having a pretty world around me. Go sit somewhere and just take it in.

And, if you're moving back up toward OH... how are you getting a Midwestern accent? That would be North East XD
Midwest, history channel says so. It's not the people on VP, actually. It's the people in RL. I have always hated NC, I didn't like it when we first moved here, didn't like it a year into living here, and, now, 6 years later, I'm absolutely sick of it. Funny thing is, I don't like SC or Georgia, or anywhere further south any better than I like it here. So it's not just NC, it's the entire. Goddamned. South.

  • I don't appreciate you mocking me when I'm trying to respond to your post -.-

But, since I'm the bigger person and don't like to start issues, I won't say another word past this. ;P

  • I'm sorry you feel that way about everything.

It does sound like you've decided to hate NC. I'm sorry that you didn't find something you enjoyed in NC. NC's a very pretty place with amazing diversity throughout the state. So many different things to do, places to go, people to see. Every state does have problems, but there are also good things if you look for them.

I also understand that there is something that makes certain places home. Just doesn't help to hate a place, fretting about being "stuck" there for a while. I just think that sometimes rants don't help much but make matters worse. It's good to get things off your chest, but dwelling on the negative too much is not good either.

Another thing is, I think that rants like this always end up in issues. Any bashing (State, people, breeds, etc.) is never good as it only starts controversy. I'm sorry you can't take people from the south. Maybe you do belong elsewhere, but, while here, make the best of it? Realize that NC/The South is "home" to people, and you aren't making them feel too happy. It's too bad you think southerners sound "funny." In my experience, I've noticed Southerners to be very polite and hospitable. I don't tend to see as many of them stereotyping people as "snooty northerners," or stuff like that.

Anyways, my main point is, I'm sorry you are having a bad time. I think the best way to approach a situation like that is to make the best of it. Find something you love or that makes it worthwhile. Learn to accept change and be respectful to everything and everyone. Learn how to walk away from annoying things. Learn to utilize the “down” points in your life to help you get somewhere and be someone. If you pre-decide to learn a lesson from everything life throws at you, you’ll be a lot happier in the end. If you don’t learn something, you’re just putting up with the “rollercoaster” for nothing. I always have to stop and think about where I want to go and about how I can find a happy point and use the situation to make me a better person. If you only open your mind, you have endless possibilities and a whole new world awaiting you. These things will benefit you throughout life, trust me.
Something that always makes me think is Dr. Seuss's quote: “You're in pretty good shape for the shape you are in.” Taken many ways, it's just a fun quote. It’s so light sounding, but it’s really deep when you t think about it. It always helps me think about the fact that I’m not as bad off as I could be and that I’m doing well compared to others. I know that you have opinions just like everyone else does, and you are entitled to them. Just realize that other people also have opinions and it’s always best to be courteous and try not to over-do the bashing.
  • man, in my opinion people that don't love the south are anti-nature. NC is like snowjo said, one of the most diverse and beautiful places in the US. Sapphire, NC anyone? beaches? mountains? you get it all. same with SC and GA.

i'm really just thinking out loud, there are a lot of people that enjoy living in the city.
It's just life. You'll get over it.
  • -sigh- This post is just stupid.

As many times as you've bashed the south and had people jump down your throat about it, and you still do it, please DO go home. Southern people are no different than the rest of the country, if anything, from what you have taught me, we may even be better than some Ohioan. You wanna talk like a biased snood? I can too. People live here, work here, go to school, everything they do up north, yet you have a problem with it, why? I know why. You like people to pity you, you like the attention for acting like you're miserable and have all these problems. Shut. Up.

Ohio is not midwest, I don't care what you say. Ohio is north east. If Ohio was midwest, that would make Kentucky, Tennessee and Alabama midwest also, which they're not. If anything, they're midEAST.

I'm just going to be bluntly honest with you. Your whiny, snoody, annoying little attitude is what makes you miserable. Not where you live. You don't appreciate anything, you don't -like- anything, you don't care about anything or anyone. And that is your problem. Not North Carolina, not the south, nothing but you. YOU are at fault. I know exactly why you don't like it here, and Nickel is exactly right. You look for things to hate, because that gives people a reason to think you might really be upset. Nobody here has done anything to you.

Truthfully, I feel bad for you. You can't see where we live for what it is. Our mountains are absolutely GORGEOUS. Our beaches are NICE. Our colleges are amazing. You don't know how to stop and think 'oh, wow. this place really is amazing.' Sure it may not be where you're from, and I get how that could be bad sometimes, but you live here. Your family is here. The people that love you most are right here in this state. And you don't even care. Instead you find other reasons to make people feel bad for you, and bash everyone here for no reason other than you can. Because you think it's right.

You're wrong. It's a strongly biased opinion. We're people just like you. And if you can't accept that, go back up north now, for all we care. This is why you don't have friends here. I know I'm one of those RL people that 'piss you off', so I'm here to tell you, stop blaming people for your own pathetic miserable existence, grow up and accept that only you can make your situation better, and that nobody else really cares.

  • I agree with Nickel, however, I moved to Florida when I was 10...I was always picked on BECAUSE of my accent (Florida is a mini California to me), I lived in a town with nothing to do...even going for walks was just boring. So, I believe you can dislike something without forcing it or trying to, I tried to enjoy Florida but I was way to stressed living there and every time I tried I would just go into a shut down mode and just sit there for days not doing anything in my house.

As for SunnyDaysDontLie, I lived in the south my whole life (currently living in Alabama) - you must not get out much because Alabama and Georgia are GORGEOUS. And I stayed in North Carolina before and I would say it's gorgeous to. It doesn't seem like your trying, and I don't appreciate where I live being bashed.
