• Congrats. I'd love to breed rabbits, but from the lack of good breeders around here (and lack of space for the rabbits), I couldn't. But again, congrats, that must be exciting. Netherland Dwarfs are adorable rabbits.
 • Ive got some californians that i breed
and i love them to death!
And i wanted something to prove some
difference to my herd since all cali's are
the same color and basically the same size (HUGE)
so i decided to get something thats small
and i got a VM female meaning she is
a color that isnt allowed to show HOWEVER
she has the genes to throw blue eyes whites
if she's bred to a BEW buck. But i think she can also
throw colored babies too! And i love otter rabbits in general.
Theyre amazing!!
 • I got them and have posted pics!!
 • Awww, adorable. We have some show rabbits, one of which is a Netherland Dwarf. She's a blue, can't remember her weight, but she was a breeder, is now 4 years old and spayed. We have a French Lop, a normal lop, Lionhead and others :P
 • Well. These rabbits look familiar. Lol

I still think their ears are too large, and if they are young they seem very large.
How much do they weigh? You could be in danger when it comes to staying within your weight class.

Just going to say there ears look a bit large, but with my research from viating netherland dwarf breeders etc, they get a doe with incorecct ears ( incorrect more than 2 inch) and breed i with a correct buck and therefore most of the babies will be correct, just though i would drop by and say and nethies are great rabbits i am getting into breeding them, as my french lops were to much for me to handle, have fun with them vampy :D

p.s. so their ears should be around 2 inch in length but no more than 2 inch as this is classed un-desirable for show.

xD they should look familiar lol!
Zsa Zsa is only 2 months and i know she isnt showable cuz of her color
but Chance is about 5 months. I think they might just look too big bacause i was
soo close to them when i took the pictures and didnt have them set up.

Chance only weighs 2 pounds and zsa zsa weighs 1 pound exactally.
 • The otter is sitting good right now with 1lb.
Junior Bucks and Does UNDER 6mo, should not be over 2lbs and a minimum of 1lb.
so it falls under the minimum of 1lb, but he is sure to grow.

The BEW Carrier is really boarder line right now with 2lbs.
Senior Bucks and Does 6mo of age and over, should not be over 2.5lbs, with an ideal weight of 2lbs.
Considering that she still falls under the Junior category, she is at her max weight.
But with her being unshowable it wont matter if she gets over her weight limit, as long as you breed her to a short eared, small bodied buck, you should get some babies on the smaller side.

My senior ND buck is 1.5lbs, tiny little thing. lol

Actually the Otter is VM and Female so she is the unshowable one. lol
The BEW is the 2 lb 5 month old buck.
 • Ooh! Well this is starting to make more sense! lol

Either way, what I said before is still true.
Just the one that had a chance of staying in the weight limit wont be showable.
and the one that I think will be too large, is going to struggle keeping in the weight.

But! They are cute <3
And! I am sure you are planning on adding to your herd..?
Just make sure you recieve some smaller stock.

 • Im hoping they will be close enough to the
same size that he will not produce anything
that she cant carry. Im gonna try to keep him
in the right weigh though

Yeah i would if you are intending to show him, some of my females are slighty out of the weight barrier of their breed well i say slighty they are ALOT but they are just my pets when i showed the frenchies the males my were very big, what is the most desirable colours in nethies at the mo? because butterflys are most desirable in frenchies at the mo, but they are so hard to breed to the correct butterfly pattern.

Lol , have you researched the nethies desired pose or did the breeder show you how to pose them, the frenchies were great as all they have to do is sit there for their pose but when i was teaching one of them to sit right he grunted at me and stamped his feet and walked off : )

Im working on researching the desired pose
 • I got the female posed but not my male. xD
 • i saw the little cuties today! they are SOOOOOO cute! and soft!
 • Rabbits :)

They're really cute. Nice to get into a new breed. Only comments I'd have (being a HL person, not ND) would be that the good ones I've seen tend to have smaller ears. Just find something with good ears for breeding to. Middy's good with all kinds of rabbit stuff. :) I tend to stick with HL stuff, but the breeder with my first pair has a son with a very successful ND rabbitry. He's got a lot of GCs and just good stock. Lovely stuff. I got the chance to browse over a few juniors and seniors while there as well as pics on the website and that just brings up the ear comment.

Not sure what you've done as far as NDs before or rabbits in general, but what I've gotten for suggestions and have tended to think about a lot is starting out with a "typical" color and not go into type and a rarer color all at once. Get an idea of what the standard is and work for that, then color? Just what I've heard and have planned. Means torts for me. Yay.

Good job posing them! You're getting there. I think they are usually slightly more chunky in poses, but then I tend to wander back to HL, so yeah. Who knows? Anyways, wanted to say that I cannot for the life of me get my HLs to pose. Makes me so upset, but I'll get there. Once we're through molting, have decided to like me, and I can get a chance to have them out for more than playtime with peace from other pets, we'll figure it out.

Anyways, now I'm rambling on about rabbits so I'll quit. (Um, no, I am -not- obsessed at all! ) Don't wanna ruin your post. Congrats on the rabbits! Maybe when I add another breed, if I go for NDs, you'll have something for me. :) Maybe I could help you with HLs eventually and you help me with NDs. I love rabbits! XD
