My Dog? Or Yours?

It has bothered me just a bit that if you buy a dog and nueture then release a dog you bought and the old owner got mad.
I understand that you breed that dog, but you sold it and I bought it. I know that rescueing dogs may take a long time and effort, but you sold it its my dog now!
So no I will not pay you extra to buy a dog. If you put it for sale for say 5k, and I buy it then it's mine not yours anymore.
So I don't like those messages saying "You stole my dog and released it!"
I didn't steal it I bought it! Sorry if your one of the people who feels that way, but if they want to nueture and release it then make it more expensive.
If you turn them they will die anyways.

  • Lol, I know how you feel.

I take the approach that this is VIRTUAL PUPS and they can get over it

  • If you bought the dog, it's yours.
If you rescued the dog, it's yours.
End of story.

If they have a problem that you bought one of their dogs, neutered it, and then released it, then they shouldn't be selling the dogs. After ownership is changed there is nothing they can do about it. You're in your full rights to do whatever you want with the dog once it belongs to you.

  • Thank You. They make me feel so horrible xD.
I'm not going to point fingers but some people even state on there kennel "Please do not nueture and release the dogs I rescue.
I know it seems easy but i actually work hard."
I think "Make people bid on them if it's hard work."
Not pounding on rescues though xD.

  • You're not horrible at all.

I'm a rescue, and I don't generally neuter(at least not all of them). If someone wants to adopt my dogs, neuter, and release/sell them, then I don't care. That's entirely up to them once the dog leaves my possession. Actually I don't even bother to check out who got the dog. Would it matter if I did? Nope, because even if they planned on using it to breed 1 million Pomeranians, there is nothing I could do to stop them.

  • I was going to make another rant, but I might state it here since you said that. I know people are doing it for the great of VP, but just because a novice is breeding excessively doesn't mean you need to bother them. I had one novice messaging me saying "Do you think I'm mean because I breed my dogs?"

I didn't reply, but It's basicly considered cyber-bullying in my mind :/

  • It's just a game.
I would never harass a novice because they breed lots of dogs. That's how they choose to play the game. Besides, can't they only have 20 dogs at a time, and only 1 kennel? Also, don't they have limited breeding? They can't be doing that much harm. Besides, it's probably the over breeding that keeps so many rescues busy. 4/5ths of the dogs I've rescued have probably come from novices that bred a lot. Without them I'd be quite bored.

I do think it could be bullying in some cases to harass novice players. If sponsor players have a problem with it, then they should offer the novice players sponsor services instead of just telling them to outright stop. That way you are actually decreasing the problem instead of making it worse.

Honestly? Even I would consider that cyber-bullying in my own mind..

I mean if people really want to message novices and pick on them about breeding their dogs, then to me that person whom messaged the novice doesn't make that player a better person. Heck I'm a novice and I just bred my husky so does that mean I shouldn't breed my dogs xD

Sorry figured I'd get a post in.

  • I completely agree! They're only allowed 20 breedings in total I believe. Anyways, it's true. I remember as a novice just starting out I bred a dog and someone (Not naming names or nothing) bid on my dog and thinking I had made a great sale they went ahead and released it. Now don't get me wrong, it is a little aggravating to find your hard work go down the drain, but then telling me that I ruined a dog and to stop overbreeding and such. I think it is a total waste to the novices since they have limited breedings for someone to release the dogs they have bred.

And also... I really don't think that novices are to blame. Like you've all said they only get a limited amount of breedings so why shouldn't novices have just as much fun as the rest of us.
  • People have said exactly the truth.

Once a dog is sold, it belongs to the new owner to do with as they please. If a player doesn't want their dogs neutered and released, don't sell them. If a player is harassing you about neutering and releasing "their" dogs, please put them on ignore and then report them so we can explain the situation and rules to them calmly.

Messaging any player, novice or sponsor, repeatedly about anything a player doesn't agree with, could be considered harassment. (Just a note here, a distinction needs to be made between a new player and a veteran player who may or may not be a sponsor) In reality, most of the time when I get a report of someone being harassed for breeding dogs, or neutering/releasing it's a newer player, not necessarily a sponsor who is doing the harassing, usually because they got caught up in the spirit of the game, don't realize how the game can be played and don't even realize they are harassing someone. So I can't really call it bullying as they usually aren't being knowingly malicious about it.

For example, recently had a sponsor rescue player report another sponsor rescue for doing exactly that, buying, neutering and releasing the first sponsor's dogs. They even, after reporting to me, posted on the Bark Park to not have anything to do with the second sponsor for that reason because the second sponsor put them on ignore.

Once we got everything stopped and calmed down, the first sponsor rescue made it known they didn't know why you would neuter and release dogs. Didn't realize people made money from neutering and that's why the game was programmed that way, so players could make some money and that once a dog was neutered, it wasn't much use to many. They just thought people were for some reason being mean to her and the dogs. She insisted on continuing to play as if the dogs were real, which is her right, but now knows that others also have the right to buy any dog on the market they can afford and do as they please with it.

  • That reminds me sometimes they ask me how to train my dogs and i tell them that a way to get a dogs stats up is RH they say "Why not friendly play?" Then send me a ton of messages like "Whatever you don't know how to care." Then i ignore them.
Oh I know novices put a lot of effort. It's just our new members actually who havent been playing long enough to understand the game. I think after I got a forums I understand the game a whole lot more. It actaully better to have a forums for Tip And Tricks. So if I stumble across a message like help I tell them to get a forums.

Lara likes helping :D, if she could help :P.

  • I've been giving free trainings for a rescue kennel and I started to use RH on an import. Which is a logical thing to do, since most people use imports to start lines to get 10x4s. Yet this person freaked out because I was "abusing the dog". I understand that some people take the game very seriously and the dogs on here are real, but don't yell at me for using RH when you don't specify what you want me to do for training. :?
  • Exactly if they send you a dog to train and your a Veteran/Expirienced player they should probably still give an opinion CALMLY. Because I train also and i got a message from a novice trying to start a club against sponsor trainors, and a club about being hated by all sponsors. Of course i ignore them.

  • I did that with a bunch of Shibas one time, they were up for $100 and I didn't feel they were doing the breed much justice on here.

    Back in action?
  • I completely agree with all these posts. The biggest problem is when novices don't understand the game. When I was a novice about 4 years ago, I bought a 2x4 border collie that I was very proud of, and was excited about breeding because I got pups and all. I didn't understand that dogs must be trained and not over bred, and I remeber thinking how unfair it was for sponsors to tell me I shouldn't breed or train. Once it was explained to me how the stats worked and how sponsor trainers can raise all stats and all, I stopped breeding untrained dogs and worked to get a sponsor kennel. I understand that many novices are frustrated, but I think alot don't understand the game and feel like us sponsors are dictators or something. And just to finish this post, it really annoys me when people hate rough housing. If the dog is aggressive, its not like its going to bite anyone and if you want a high stated dog, its the only way. And if you consider the dogs "real", I "rough house" with my dogs. Tug o war is a form of rough housing, it doesn't mean you're beating the dog or training it to attach on command. This was way longer than I meant it to be.
