Wisdom Teeth:UPDATE

edited May 2010 in General Discussion
I am nervous, yet happy at the same time.
I'm not nervous about the surgery - I'm more nervous about what the anesthesia will do to me. I don't want to wake up and not know where I am.
I've had laughing gas about 4 other times - and I only remember one time because I wasn't fully asleep and I kept saying "I am flying, weeee" xD

However, I am happy because the dentist said that they could be the cause of my lock jaw, and not to mention it's pushing my teeth on top of each other and doesn't feel to great. So once they are gone I will feel better and can go back to Alabama. :D

Anyways, Friday is when I am getting the surgery done - so I probably won't be on if I am too loopy.

  • Anestesia's are FUNKY!
When i had back surgery
i remember the doctors asking
me questions and i remember answering them
BUT i dont remember WHAT they asked
or what i answered
and i remember trying to tell myself that the
light was NOT multiplying LOL
  • The doctor told me I would barely answer their questions; he said mostly I just talked about Mayday and Dega ;D and hey, go Crimson Tide!

btw, it's not that bad. a lot of people think it's some kind of trip or somethin, but it's just like goin to sleep and wakin back up, lol.

  • still wish hada been there to ask vampy dumb embarassing questions >.> too bad i had to go to my cousins that day...
  • Mine are poking out on the my right side, but none have popped out of the left. It did, and still does hurt as they seem to come in more and more, and it's been months. I should have had them removed so I could get it over with. lol.

Good luck! I've heard anesthesia makes you puke, but hopefully it doesn't!
I'm done with VP. I'll just be around until I get all my dogs and lines placed in good hands. If you want to contact me, please do so through deviantART.
  • All 4 of mine are impacted. DX
I'm just afraid I will say something stupid and my parents will freak. lol.
  • I got completely knocked cold when I had my wisdom's removed >.> but when they gave me the gas I cried.. O.o So much for laughing gas xD

But I do remember when my sister got givien laughing gas >D Funniest thing ever, she kept acting like a little child and answering all the questions like one; "Nuhh! Mummy dushent give mee choc-choc-choc-ohh-lattee!!" She was 12 at the time baha.
But then she did faint and fall out of the chair >.> but she can't stand anything medical so that probably had more to do with it then the gas xD

Good Luck!

  • XD
I'm gonna get my mom to video tape me. lol. Then I will upload it online if anyone wants to see it. 8D
  • I had 4 impacted teeth, all of different kinds of impacts that i had removed.
It was awful to say the least. The anesthesia wasn't bad at all, they did the iv in the top of my hand and i was out cold. When i woke up they said i kept telling my aunt "This is why i don't come to your house, you stab me with needles" cause she was my anesthesiologist.
But when i woke up, i was trying to get the soggy gauze out of my mouth, it was like choking me.
I remember getting back in the car and being awake enough to send one text then passing out. When we got home they say you have to change the gauze and try to eat so you can take meds, i couldn't open my mouth, my vision went away and i say in the floor bawling about being blind and not being able to open my mouth. [effects of the meds]
After that i slept forever.
I got to miss a week of school, icepacks are your friends, it hurts like crap, but they are your friends!
Eat apple sauce and icecream. Once you start feeling a little better and the stitches loosen, EZ mac is always good.
You can't eat anything hot for quite a few days. Solid foods are a no.
The second night i tried to eat a BBQ sandwich, you think you can choke stuff down and it will be okay, you're wrong. don't try it lol.

Overall though it wasnt that bad. The first day i felt awful. After the third day, i swelled and couldn't eat. But after the third day everything started going down and the stitches started disolving.
Just do whatever the doctor says because if you wind up with a dry socket from eating something you shouldn't... its gonna be bad mama-jama.

  • holy poop! the same thing is happening to me lock jaw and everything. i get my removied june 10th. i'm scared i'll say something i shouldn't or something silly :D once i wake up from surgery
  • That does not sound fun, Buffy. XD
My mom bought like 3 things of pudding and we have ice cream I think.
What about thinks like fruits? Grapes? Strawberries? Or would that be considered a solid food.

Surgery is tomorrow BTW, DX
  • Hope everything went well! I'm not looking forward to that >.< I know when I was on anesthesia I couldn't remember anything that happened...Aside from showing off my stuffed monkey around the office xD

  • Just got back, I'm glad it's over. But they didn't knock me out. They just gave me laughing gas and numbed me up. The. Most. Painful. Thing. Ever. There was A LOT of pressure and I cried the whole time and was kicking and moving. -.-
It took what felt like 5 minutes, but I remember every thing they said and everything that was done, the doctor even busted my lip open while trying to remove my upper tooth, my mouth is already hurting and I won't be getting my prescriptions for another 20 minutes.
I can't stop drooling and on the way home I drooled all on my shirt and blood was everywhere.
I have to go back next week to get my stitches removed.
If I would have known I would have been awake the whole time, I would have gone somewhere else. The only good thing I heard about getting them pulled while your awake is obviously because you are alert after the surgery and you heal faster.
  • I feel MUCH better.
The meds are amazing. I feel like I am floating. XD
But, I am little slow when it comes to people talking to me.
My mom is going to get me a milkshake and I get another dose of meds at around 7. The only thing that sucks is my jaw is sore and opening to even change the gauze hurts. DX
Other than that I feel great. :D
My mouth isn't swollen so far, I guess within the next few days we will have to see what it does.
I guess that's one good thing about local anesthesia, pain during but you feel good afterwords.
The people I talked to that got knocked out said that they felt horrible the whole week and some even longer than that.
So far, it's just soreness for me.
But, the only thing I had to eat today was yogurt so far.
And I'm really wanting some tomato soup...I don't know why I am still talking lol. XD
  • The right side of my face is swollen, I actually ate soup today. It was yummy! I can talk now and theres no bleeding, but I still drool and the salt water I have to clean my mouth with makes me sick. DX I started sweating violently after taking it and then got dizzy. The meds are still amazing lol. I crash hard when I take the pain killer, the other two just make me loopy. XD
  • LMAO poor Avla! I hope you feel better soon!
    seaoats_insanityban.png
  • Thanks. XD
I can't stick my tongue in my mouth because I am becoming more swollen on my right side. -.-
And eating is just pitiful, I get it everywhere. LOL.
But, my mom is bringing me mashed potatoes. I'm really excited, I couldn't eat the noodles my dad made me earlier because it wouldn't fit in my mouth. I could really go for some pizza right about now. O_O
  • I know how that's like, I scraped half of my face off rollerblading and eating was a nightmare ._.
    seaoats_insanityban.png
  • Ouch! That even sounds painful.
This is my first surgery and hopefully my last (besides having kids).
  • Oh so they pulled yours? LUCKY!
I had to have all mine cut out cause they never broke the gums and were impacted.
I wish they would have pulled mine. lol

Doesn't sound good at all.
But you got soup that fast? I am so jealous.
    Ven.png
  • I think two of them broke through the skin, I don't really know if they cut and pulled or just pulled. But the one that was bothering me had already broke the skin.
I can't eat mashed potatoes to well. And I really don't want to live off pudding and yogurt because its to thick. Soup has been the easiest because it'd basically flavored water.
The stitches are leaving a really nasty taste...I hate swallowing.
I just took more meds and have an ice pack on my face, after the third day I heard it gets better.
But my stitches don't come out until Friday so I'm really anxious to get this nasty crap out of my mouth.
I've been lightly brushing my front teeth and swishing salt water...just makes me drool and taste bad.
Today has just been miserable....waiting for these meds to kick in -.-
  • The swelling has gone down, I managed to eat the cheese out of pizza rolls. But right now I really only enjoy mashed potatoes and applesauce and sometimes soup.
My stitches feel tight and the bad taste isn't as bitter so I guess that's a sign of healing. :D
But, I could feel the stitches and clots yesterday because my face was swollen against my tongue.
I've been brushing the front of my teeth about 3 times a day and washing the back with salt water about 4-5 times a day(depending how much I eat).
And occasionally I will use a heated rag or ice for the swelling.
Today has been a lot better than yesterday.
The only down side is I have to sleep elevated with my head to the left, because my right side is swollen and it feels heavy if I sleep any other way. And I am still drooling lol. But, I am not as loopy and groggy as I was the first two days.
I still won't be able to eat anything solid until I get my stitches out, I've just been trying to exercise my jaw so when I do get the stitches out I can go straight to Burger King and get fries.
