• My dad did conformation for well over 10 years w/ Labs. The first step is to making sure your dogs looks apply to the breed standard which can be found on akc.org (american kennel club.) Go to breeds at the top on the menu bar and then in the first little bracket below the menu bar over in the middle ish is a place you can select the breed your looking for. Select Shar Pei and the breed's standards will come up.

Step two would be teaching your dog how to stack and jog at a pase that allows the judge to see the dog's structure as it moves. Make sure your dog is JOGGING, if they up there speed into a canter it could cost you best in breed / best in show, whatever.

Stacking your dog isn't a difficult task and is very easy to train just make sure your dog knows it's commands very well and make sure the word you use to get your dog stacked cannot be associated with any other command in your dog's vocabulary. Like sit and stack could be associated with eachother because of the S. I know I had trouble naming my puppy a year ago because I wanted to name it Stunn! but that could've been associated with Tunn.. for the tunnel in agility. So just watch your words and what not. Also, another thing I see when people have dogs that do both conformation and agility is make the dog spin before they lay down or sit so they don't associate it with the stack.

Here's some pictures that may help (these images belong to Ammardan Kennels of Ohio they're my dog, Shorty's, parents.);

<img src="http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j262/laguna_014/pixshow_8158.jpg"; alt="http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j262/laguna_014/pixshow_8158.jpg"; class="bb-image" />

<img src="http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j262/laguna_014/rydergroup3.jpg"; alt="http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j262/laguna_014/rydergroup3.jpg"; class="bb-image" />

<img src="http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j262/laguna_014/show_6445.jpg"; alt="http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j262/laguna_014/show_6445.jpg"; class="bb-image" />

<img src="http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j262/laguna_014/showpix.jpg"; alt="http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j262/laguna_014/showpix.jpg"; class="bb-image" />

<img src="http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j262/laguna_014/showpix2.jpg"; alt="http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j262/laguna_014/showpix2.jpg"; class="bb-image" />

<img src="http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j262/laguna_014/showpix3.jpg"; alt="http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j262/laguna_014/showpix3.jpg"; class="bb-image" />

Also, I'm not aware of the venues that are out there to compete your dog in. I know there's AKC and breed clubs you can compete in. However if you want to go far and hope to breed your dog for it's looks in the future, I'd reccomend AKC for several reasons. Also your dog must be intact when doing conformation..

Hope that helped! If you have ANY other questions don't hesistate messaging me or posting again as I'll keep my eye on the post for the next week or so! & If you're going to breed it looks good to have multiple titles on your dogs, and will attract more people to want your dogs rather than someone else's. You could get a CGC (canine good citizen) which those tests are EXTREMLEY easy to past, and it's relativley easy to find a place that will be holding the test. If you have trouble finding one give me your state and I can find atleast five within that state. Aslo Rally and Obedience titles are very easy to get for the most part and I can help you with that also, although Rallys pretty self explaintory. Agility I can most defintiley help you with. Shar Peis aren't a popular breed in agility which makes it good because you can make it to AKC Invationals in Long Beach, California which is held at the beginning of December every year. You do your best entering trials in agility and soon you could become a top dog with the proper training ect.

Hopefully that helped! Sorry for the overload, it was a legit book...
take care,
morgan
