Strays that I fell in love with

Ok so about 4 months ago. A stray dog wound up in our neighborhood. She was pregnant and no one had ever seen her before. She didn't look to healthy and she was skitish around humans. About 3 weeks later. She had her puppies under our neighbors house. 2 died, 1 was sold, and 2 were kept in the neighborhood. These two do not even resemble their mother, and no one had any idea where the father dog was at. The two puppies came to my house and I would sit in the yard and play with them so eventually the mother took up living under our house and would come out to play when her puppies did. I love on each and every dog. I named the mother dog Freckles, and her two puppies Buddy, and Fuzz. We eventually took the puppies to an adoption center so they could find a family of their own. Then another stray came along and I (along with the help of Vampy) named him Butler. He was VERY skittish around humans. So I would sit in my yard and play with Freckles until he got the courage to come see me. I began playing with them both each day...Then..came the horible day...my brother brought his gun to our house and decided to take care of them..i begged him not to shoot them and he agreed when he saw the tears in my eyes. He said "Sister..everyone in the neighborhood wants them dead..but..if you can catch them and get a rope around their necks so i can use it as a leash/collar..i wont shoot them. you have today to catch them. hurry up" so i spent almost 5 whole hours trying to catch them. i fainlly caught them and loved on them..and tears came to my eyes when i saw my brother drive off with them. Do you guys think i Betray them..or did i do the right thing by letting him take them somewhere they might have a chance at living? Here are pics of them...<br><br>Both adult dogs were afraid.
