Breeding 'bans'

edited December 2005 in Game Suggestions
Okay I am not sure if this has being implied before and/or if it'll be too much information to work into the game but what about something like breeding 'bans'?

What I mean is that when you place a stud for studding you can have the choice of selecting what type of female can be bred - I know you'll say private stud but what if you're away for a couple weeks, private studs would then be useless.

Anyways let's say you have this dog
<a href="http://www.virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=241404"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://www.virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=241404
Import fully trained Kerry Blue Terrier

And let's say you didn't wish to place it at 100k or over but you'd want nicely stated females to be bred to it at the reasonable fee it is placed at.

Therefore when you stud the dog, the automatic choice of:
200% stats females
100% stats females
below 100% stats females

Comes up - then you can select the choice and the game will automatically disallow any dogs that happen to be below the choice that is picked

For example, let's say I picked 200% stats females and someone with a 'mongrel' dog - as I call the poor trained ones - tries to breed well then a warning saying indicating that a breeding isn't allowed will pop up and breeding won't be allowed.

And NO automatic benefit will be given to 'so-called' sponsers because I've seen enough persons with sponser accounts whom have dogs that are WORSE than those of novice dogs.

I'm basing this on whenever you get a stud whose being bred too much and the game automatically stats 'dog must be turned a day' or whatever it is.

What you think and feel free to improve the suggestion.

Personally I like this idea, for this is the third time I've had to raise the stud fees of my public studded dogs because of some 'moron' - yes I'm saying moron because the person plainly has NO respect for other persons' work - breeding pathetic dogs to mine.

  • I like this idea, because when some people put there dog up for stud, it says 2971687465168(or something like that), then it says to msg them about using it, it would be easier to just put that option on.

  • But then untrained dogs would go up for stud with only fully trained females as there option, this would really limate the availibility of studs for novices
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift... That's why it's called 'The Present"

  • That's the point of it.

I've had three studs being abused by novices when I took the time and the money to have them completely trained.

I don't like people who are so rude they have no consideration for other people's work and if the novices - even sponsers - can not breed than that means breeds will go up in standard simply because of the fact that well you are going to get less abusers in the game.

As for putting up untrained studs, that can be fixed by applying the same principle for the females to the studs.

  • I think that private stud possiblities would be ok. What im not okay with. Is people that puppy mill or etc.. As for your ordeal of getting abused as you called it. Their is a simple solution to that. And thats to not put the dog up for stud. And once a reputatble mate has been found, then to change the studding etc status on that dog for what ever needed amount of time.

Their are some great players, whether novice or sponser, that deserve the chance of being able to breed with this or that dog. However, to make it harder for everyone in a general purpose, is not something I would vote apon implimenting. As for just a simple click box as intended for showing ya dog is available for stud at this certain amount of money. Then to have people click on it, and get the reply notice as we do with those that bid on our dogs, whether they are for sale or not. Would be all that I feel is needed. So that everyone that is nice, respectable, and worthy of breeding, will be given the chance to do so. Just my two cents.

Regards, Todd
  • I think there is a general misunderstanding here.

So let's try an example

Dog A is placed at stud for 10k but with this button the owner can select that only females which are completely trained in 200% stats - minus aggression - will be able to breed

Then

Dog A will be standing at public stud for the 10k, a reasonable fee that anyone can afford, you simply have to have a fully trained female to be able to use the stud.

As for not putting up the stud for public fees, I do want to put the dog up for public stud I simply want trained dogs to be breed to them and through this means its an automatic process rather than having to screen every person whom wants to breed - and trust me with a lot of rare colored/rare breed dogs that's a lot of messages asking to breed and people simply don't have the trained females.

  • This would be great if it were added that way the Stud project cavalier & I are working on could be sure no bad pups were being bred! :D

  • I say maybe.

People play this game for free(meaning novices) just to kill time. so, if now they cannot breed to a stud, cause all of them, or almost al of them, have the certain females, then they cannot breed to studs that they want.
    Dun message me. I quit.

If you want a full explanation(most should know) message me
  • i would jsut like to say if you don't want a certain female then don't put it up for stud just write in the notes that if you any female that is good can breed to this dog. I say no on this idea.

  • I think its a great idea my aussie stud was just abused some how because of some novices. They bred him 4 times with a different breed. I would love to see this idea come to life.... I support it.

Please PM me if I win/bought anything!
  • I say no to this because it's just like when you sell your dogs you have no control what the new owner does with it, if you don't want your dog abused then don't put him up for stud or put him up for 123456789 so people have to messege you first.

the problem with that is that some times people put there stud high, then never get on again to answer your msg

  • Thank you Toni you hit the nail right on the head.

So what if you place the dog at stud for the maximum allowed, I have asked many persons with dogs standing at stud like that if I can breed and I have females that meet their requirements yet never once have I received replies or if I do, I have already found another dog and couldn't be bothered with what they are saying.

This is a suggestion based on convience, making the game go faster than having to wait for someone to log in and reply to a post you made days maybe weeks ago.

  • Don't kill the messenger:

This was suggested to Nef when we first put the suggestions for new updates a week or two, or three ago (I'm a horrible track of time) and she will in no way shape or form hinder anyone being able to breed the way they want.

Her point was if you don't want your studs being used, then don't put them up for stud. The option for a button or a contract like this was actually brought up and she said no, she said if someone has the money to afford the stud fee, then there isn't anything you can do except put it up for 2132346374746 (whatever it is) and have them message you.

You'd have to approve the females yourself, the best thing she said you could do is have them send you a contract with the female they want bred for the stud fee you say, this way you can just approve the female, accept the contract, breed it then send it back. Sounds like a pain in the ass, but it's the most secure way to pre-approving fmales for breeding.
