I need some help. I'm going to probably be purchasing a new laptop, and I can't decide on what to purchase... I don't want to spend over $800 because I KNOW I can get a machine to meet my needs in that range. I'm looked into HP and Toshiba brands, I want to avoid Acer, unless you have some good feedback help !

I have a $500 Acer and it works great. I even fell asleep on it once, by accident. Then one time i dropped a table on it. Im rough and it is still in perfect condition. It has never broken down or anything

Does it run on Windows Vista Home premium? Is the speed and stuff decent?

Get a Mac :] They're amazing. Like really. The best. Mine is like my baby. I think you can find kinda cheap ones on eBay. If not, trust me, they're totally worth the extra cash.

I've got a dell inspiron. I am not sure of the price since my mom got it. I think it's pretty fast. Pictures don't take long at all to load

My computer is oldddd But its a Dell Inspiron 8100, a power house. Holds AIM, GIMP, and Adobe PS, and Google Earth, has WiFi connectivity, and will stay up as long as you want it to =D

I agree. I have a Macbook Pro for school. It works GREAT. Never had a problem with it, at all. Graphics are awesome, comes with most of the stuff one would use, etc.. They run about $1,200, but it'll probably last you longer than any other laptop would and you can customise them to fit your specific needs. :D

Thats what I would personally, hackin love. But, I have to pay with my own mulah, since its not christmas xD. I just want to get something basic, that looks cool and can get basic needs done fast.

I've got a Dell. They're pretty neat. Mine's almost nine years old. xD I slammed it closed with a pencil in it, and the worse damage it has is a blue line down the middle. Not to mention how many times I've dropped it. x3 I've got so much junk on it(between me, my mom, dad, brother, sister.. I share it. x3) it's not funny. But it's wonderful.

Dells are like, the best o.o My dad punched my old computer and slammed it, completly distroying it. Also, IBMs are awesome. Lightweight, and easy to use. They have built in internet.

I love HP's There the only brand I will buy becuase there great and I know they work well. I cant stand Macs/Apples ( they are teh same brand right?) my school has those and teh public library and they suck, we have so many problems with them.

Well... I've have a Dell, a Toshiba, and an Acer... The Dell was a POS, but I hate dell. I've had a desktop and laptop, they were both horrible. The Toshiba was alright. It definitely worked better than any Dell we have owned. But they do have some problems. They don't have a ton memory space so mine was always very slow. The Acer, we have had it for about a year now. It is by far the best laptop we have owned. It's fast, keeps a good wifi link even outside. Only thing I don't like it, it's kind of ugly. edit: Any new computer you buy is going to support windows vista (unless it's a mac obviously). The Acer we have will not run anything else.

I have a newww, HP laptopp. It was like 1,100 I think? I personally wouldn't get one with windows vista, it really depends on what your using the computer for. I know mine has tons of issues and I don't do anything THAT Complicated other then make videos and post them online, and things like that. Vista when you close the internet weird things will happend, it's slow and makes things too complicated. Get windows or mac, I've used both and they're MUCH better. Anyway, my laptop has a built in microphone, and webcam, and is pretty easy to control other then the whole vista thing. It's really nice, I'd recommend it to anyone, and you can get insurance on it for like 100 extra bucks and if ANYTHING happended to it they'd give you another one. I know my laptop is gaurenteed to last for 15 years. I'd get it even though you might be spending 300 bucks more out of your price range, it's really worth it compared to getting a 600 dollar one then having it break then having to purchase a more exspensive one because of the 650 dollar one breaking. I just went through that. Not fun. lol. Anyway, I hope that helped

I've got a refurbished compaq c700. Im really happy with it since it works great, is very reliable and only cost $450. As long as you get a refurbised model with the extended waranty (for $50 extra) you should be set. Mine runs windows vista home priemium. I'm very happy with this computer. Battery life is also very long lasting which is a plus!

Avoiding Acer?! I have an Acer Aspire 3680, I think my mom got it for $600. It's probably less now because it's an older model. I love it, I have Windows Vista Home Premium on it and it works very well, it's pretty speedy (to answer the questions you asked about tuffgirl's Acer), and has a built-in air card. Another good one is Mac, I really wanted a Mac, but mom got the Acer because it was cheaper and seems to do just as well performance-wise.
