Mutts Not Neutered!

  • The only thing I dont like is getting a purebred from mutts, but the rest of it I guess I could adjust to... I just dont know about everyone else though lol.
  • I think everyone would like it if they made it so it was like VHR, with the grades. When the grades first came on VHR, I didn't like it, but now I do... I mean, people have bred some AWESOME grade horses on there, now cross-breeding actually has a good name. It's great for getting new lines into your stock without starting a complete new breed. I have a few grade foals that I can't wait to use. The idea seems strange at first, but I think it'd really help VP... It helped VHR, after all!

  • I do not like the idea of Cross Breeding at all. Purebreeds will always be worth more than dogs that are cross breed.<br><br>-This is just MY opioion, if there happens to be a problem with it, PM and discuss it with me...Thank You-

  • IT HAS BEEN A LONGG TIME SINCE I POSTED SOMETHING ON THE FORUMS! Sorry, but it was. This is meh weirdo (nutty) thought. I think it would be great to have different kind of mutts like what Nitty was pointing out. I haven't heard any arguments on VHR because of it. I'd love to have different types of mutts on VP, but not so many types because it would be a pain to Nef to make up new ones. XD I am just agreeing. (I hope I sounded agreeable with Nitty. lol) I stink at English. *cries* Don't make fun of me because I'm Bi-Langual... lmfao Got off subject. lol

  • Ok after reading what you meant and how you explained it, I REALLY don't like the idea. I don't think that getting a purebred out of a mixed breeding would be a good thing at all. first of all it is as realistic as mutts being born neutered, more so I think, a mutt is a mutt is a mutt. you can't get a purebred dog from a mutt it is impossible. As for the automatic neutering, just think of it this way: a lot of shelters are neutering puppies at 8 weeks of age. That is a very young age to neuter a dog, but it happens in real life. so if you think about it, if these mutts on the game came from shelters, they would be neutered in 8 turns, get it? Dogs are not horses, they don't get graded like horses. Responsible breeders do not cross their dogs with other breeds, responsible owners neuter their dogs of mixed heritage. One can get a superior mutt by breeding two nicely statted and starred dogs together, there are scores of 6-9x4 mutts out there! One of the top dogs is a Mutt (congrats DeeDee!). We can imporve them without actually breeding mutt to mutt or "grading" them. I would really like to see the designer mutt that is listed as a breed taken off of the list, I know that won't happen, but to add more hybrids, designer breeds, fertile mutts would be pointless. Oh one more thing before the lovers of mutts track me down and kill me. I love mutts, this is one of my best eventers and I have another waiting in the wings: <a href="http://www.virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=259365"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://www.virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=259365</a>. Just my opinion, humble or not.

  • Smarteh, do you have dyed dogs?
  • Blegh, even with a few good reviews and even though I think it would be a great idea... It's being shot down viciously so unless there's some major support for this out there somewhere and people let me know I guess it's just not gonna happen...
  • Wow it looks like alot dont like mixed breeds.. I dont understand why though, I love mixed breeds. Thank you to all who voted yes! But I dont think this is going to happen because all that are against it :**(
  • I find it kind of annoying that this is such a farfetched concept, meanwhile a few of the people who say it's too unrealistic are people who also are dye collectors.
  • Its a good idea Nitty, but I personally wouldnt like to see it. it would just give people more of an excuse to breed horribly statted mutts. Making them breedable wouldnt give people much mor of an insentive to breed it up to better stats, it doesnt with pure bred dogs(for most anyway)
    MiniAussiebanner-1.jpg
  • I think the grade idea is kind of realistic... In real life lots of people cross-breed to get better stock, because then they get the traits of more than one breed. I was just pointing that out though, I don't really care about realism, it is a game after all, hehe.

  • Well I'm not talkin about being able to straight off breed a pure breed from a hybrid, there'd be different grades of it: D, C, B, A, AA, AAA. You'd be only able to get a purebred from a AAA.
  • VHR's crossbreeding was a mess. When I played it I couldn't FIND 'pure' bred horses, all the horses were mixed blood, you'd get a purebred arab from a cross between two breeds that were totally unrelated to arabs. <br><br>If you put that on here and allow mix x purebred to eventually make purebred there won't BE purebred from purebreds all dogs will just be a mixture of all the breeds that randomly ended up the right cross to make a purebred. <br><br>I don't mind having levels of mutts and I actually like the idea that mutt crosses would make the 'type' they should (for instance working type mutt), but the purebreds out of mixed animals would make a huge mess imho.
  • Thats what imports are for.
  • Darn it! Well I thought it was a good idea.... Thought it would be an interesting new feature to the game, whether it was realistic or not. <br><span style="font-weight:bold">Oh!</span> And I most certainly disagree with you SCWT345, it is indeed possible to get a pure breed out of a mutt! When dealing with vp, anything is possible! XP <br>And I'm just wondering...who in the heck said it was irresponsible to cross different breeds of dogs with different breeds? Do you mean to tell me it's alright to breed a dog as long as you’re breeding it with the same breed but it's not alright to breed them if you aren't? I will never understand that, really. If it was left to me, all dogs, mutts and pure breeds would be neutered... too many danged dogs (mutts <span style="font-weight:bold">and </span>Pure breeds)in the world anyway. Wait...I think I'm going off topic! <br><br>Um…I still support the idea.
    Birds-1.gif
  • well that's all well and good except on VHR you couldn't find imports (or at least I couldn't).<br><br>This system would make imports obsolete except for those who were 'picky' about having all purebred from purebred.
  • Also...<br><br>Getting purebred from mixxed means the stars from the mixed breeds would pass on and make a higher starred pup out of mixes that still shows as a purebred...even when the real breed can't get that high on its own.<br><br>Which is unfair to people who breed 'purebreds' that someone could come along and breed mixes and get better dogs than someone who's been breeding generations of purebreds.

<br><br>They're called foundation horses, you can get some as a sponsor or buy some from the goodies page. =)
    5x731w8.jpg
  • Well I meant I couldn't find any for sale without paying real money for them..because why would anyone pay real money for foundations if you can mix other breeds and get the same breed of horse.
  • The Mutt system currently is FINE how it is right now, in my opioion.

  • People still have auctions for foundation horses, as for imports, you get 20 when you upgrade or renew so it's not like no ones going to have them just because of this.
  • What's fine for some isn't always fine for others, that's how ideas spring up and inventions are created.
  • I hate crossbreeding on VHR, I hate that I couldn't find a purebred arabian..PUREBRED of the purest breed of horse. I couldn't find any foundation horses that I could AFFORD because they were all really expensive/considered rare when I played. <br><br>It made me sick that you could get an Arabian out of two totally unrelated breeds, because they ARE the purest bred horses in the world and you are NOT allowed to register a horse as a purebred arab unless it has proven lines that have no outcrossing outside the breed. Even if you bred one cross then 100 generations down the line you still couldn't register it as a purebred because it wasn't pure. <br><br>When I played VHR most of the horses were descended from crossbreeds, going back 30 generations you couldn't even find foundation animals and if you did they were nothing like the descendent. <br><br>It was one of the reasons I quit VHR, and I can't stand when people try to make VP into VHR. VP has enough problems already that are never addressed or fixed...they should be addressed/fixed before anything new is added. <br><br>Why have them make pure breds? If this is to stop the fighting over mutts why not make mutts respectable on their own instead of making them fit in as purebred making animals and a way to cheat to get higher stars?

if you want to prevent super mutts, then add a penalty to the code when you crossbreed, to prevent you from engineering a super mutt by breeding the right breeds
  • If you went out and bred a Lab to a Wolf, then back to Labs and tried to sell the pups as purebred Labs you couldn't because you wouldn't be able to get registration papers for them.<br><br>If Mutts being bred neutered is unrealistic than why add a 'fix' to mutts that's equally unrealistic?
