Hi guys!!

Haven't been here in forever but I decided to pop in and see what's been going on! Who knows. I might start eventing again since my job allows me to play on the Internet all day lol

Life has been crazy. Out of college, have a job! I raise/train german shepherds now! It's a relatively new venture and my year old female Aspen is still in the beginning stages of the competitive obedience world. Also I began riding eventing horses this year and I'm soo excited to start competing. I still have tons of horses! Way too many. Trying to sell a few. And I now raise show lambs (have a single baby and a set of twins currently!!) and I raise beefmaster show cows! My cows name is Seven and she's at the breeders now hopefully making a calf! I also raise dwarf hotot, lionhead, mini rex, and californian show rabbits. I also hold a full time job and most weekends I'm at some type of animal show.

so yeah! Hi!!!

• Hey kiwi!! Isn't it funny how that happens? I've been reminiscing lately lol
• I've been doing the same, I really miss everyone on here. We had so much fun back in the day!!

• Yeah we dd!! Back when the community was amazing.
• Good times Good times... I think it was always the players that kept me around. I get kind of bored on the game from time to time waiting for events to run. It's always fun to have people to talk to.
SmiLe :)

• That's exactly it! It was fun not for the game, but for the community we had. We were a family!
• Maybe Vp will call everyone else back and we can go back to being a big happy family again. I just don't know any of the new people... it's quite intimidating to try to make the connections I use to have on here. I don't think I can... we were just a crazy group of people.

• It sucks for sure! I've made some of my best friends off vp! In fact, going to meet Coast in literally... 4 days! Woohoo!
• Hey there Vamp! Sounds like you have a full plate but sounds like you have a lot of cool and exciting things going on. I'd love to get into some sort of showing in real life but there's just not much at all that goes on around me. It's glad to see you pop back in and I'd love to see you in the event ring again :D
• Im a breeder at heart. But i realize the best way to breed and sell for a living is to show my breeders and whatever i produce. Im still in the early stages in most of it, but i love what i do.
• It sounds awesome! I'd absolutely love to get into it myself if I had the funds and other means. Just like here on VP I'd love to breed, train, and show a dog in real life but I just don't see that happening lol. I wish you the best of luck though. I'm sure it's challenging and has it's own slew of troubles but it sounds like it could be really rewarding and fulfilling too!
• It has its own challenges and its definitely not for the faint of heart. There is a lot of heartbreak that it involves. But it's usually worth it in the end. Like... I have this special lamb, Lamblet. I raised her. She's more of a pet then a lamb. A few years ago, she had her first baby. I had waited all year for this baby and was in love with the idea of it. Well, she had the baby a month early and aborted it. It's terrible to hear them calling for that baby. I felt like it was my fault, because there are diseases that cause abortion I didn't vaccination for, and because lamblet was so young, and because I didn't fuss at my nephew for chasing her the day before. However this year.... She exceeded my expectations and gave me a beautiful healthy set of twins! Happiest moment of my breeding season so far, seeing her loving on those sweet babies... Finally getting to have some.
• That would be heartbreaking for sure. I grew up on a farm so I know what you're talking about and have some experiences like that myself. I'm happy to hear about the set of twins though. They sound precious. Life can be so cruel at times but then there's moments of beauty that seem to make it all worth wile :D
• It's worth it in the end. I always have to remind myself that.

And more babies on the way this year!! Got a cow, a horse (both bagging up) and three more sheep due! Oh my!

Life has been fun lately lol. Gotta love spring.
• That's one thing i miss, all the baby animals! We still live on the farm but it's no longer in use as my parents have both passed away. My uncle keeps the fields cut and we sell half the hay but that's all that really gets done on the property now. My dad always said I should own a petting zoo or something cause growing up I always wanted tons of animals and never wanted to give away any of the babies lol. Even now I've probably got more animals than I need but oh well :3
• I guess I've learned after a while that IF I want to breed animals I can only get attached to certain ones. Like the little girls I decide to keep. I cannot get rid of my breeding animals because I'm attached but since I know from the get go that boys are born to sell I don't love on the quite so much
• I would for sure have to distance myself or I'd become too attached lol. I have considered, on more than on occasion, breeding dumbo rats, I love rats and it's really hard to find dumbo rats or any breed other than the normal fancy rats around here. If I could get my hands on some dumbo, maybe even dumbo manx rex rats I'd love to breed. I'd have to figure out a system or colony setting with 2 pairs so that the females and males could be kept together when not breeding or I'd be over run with the little cuties in no time.
• What about some kind of mesh netting? Males on one side females on another.

I raise rabbits but not in a colony setting.
• That's what I was thinking, a mesh divider with males on one side and females on the other. That should keep them all familiar with one another and I could switch a male and female when it's time to breed. Rats are extremely social and should always be kept with at least one other rat. Otherwise I'd just have a single pair and keep them separated when not breeding. Not that this will ever come to pass but I would love to breed them.

I am hoping in the not so distant future to get a pair of males, hopefully brothers. Our last little guys passed away a year or so ago. They were old men as far as ratties go at about 4 years old. I miss them terrible. I don't want to settle for fancy rats though and am holidng out for another dumbo pair but they seem to be hard to find.
• Ive always wanted a rat! I have never had one though. I juat dont want a red eyed one lol!
• I love rats, they are really neat little creatures. I've read they are as smart as a dog and you can teach them tricks though I've never tried to teach mine anything. I don't like the common "lab" rats, the white ones with red eyes. I don't mind the red eyes so much but like more colorful fur patterns. My last ones where Kabuki: he was white with a powder blue hood and a white split running down his nose. Shinobi was a Russian blue/grey color with white marking on his belly. They were lovely little guys.
• Ive heard tons about how smart they were!! If i were ever limited to smaller animals i would definitely try owning them! They just look wise to me. Or maybe its because i watched tmnt's growing up and loved master splinter LOL
• I loved TMNTs growing up! Surprised we've not named any of our rats that in the past lol. I can't wait to get more, hopefully in the not so distant future. I've even got names picked out, though they may change by the time we actually get some.
• I loose thinking about names for animals! Sadly I don't think I've ever ended up calling an animal what I was planning too lol!!

Elsa was supposed to be a Tilly, Roman was gonna be a Judge, and Phantom was supposed to be Atlas.
• I'm about 50/50 with that lol. Sometimes they get the name meant for them and others times not. I had the name Slade picked out for my departed Boston Terrier for a while before I actually got him. My current dog Tenchi was going to be named Fu but that changed. My rats will be named after a TV show me and my boyfriend like and will be Pazoozoo and Vlartark. Will have to check proper spelling when I get them.
• The only one I ever named in advance was Apsen, my german shepherd. But she's also from the Vom Aspen line and it was always going to be in her name somehow.
• I tend to always pick unusual names and something is always standing out to me as a good name. That's one thing i love doing on VP, coming up with names lol. I actually have a list of future names for my VP canines.
• I try to make the name fit the animal. Roman got him name because he's spotted, and his spots are shaped like roman chariot horses running. Phantom has a 'phantom of the opera mask" mask over half of his face. I try to wait until they name themselves but I do save names I think sound nice.
• I like those names and the reasoning behind them. I'll do that at times but it just depends on the animal. I named one of my cats Pocky after the Japanese Pocky candy sticks. I figured she was cute and sweet and the name would fit. Well she is sweet at times but she's also a little mischievous and not always so sweet haha. I was going to name Tenchi Fu because he is a Pekinese which were bred to be living Chinese Fu dogs. But the name just didn't stick. We actually gave him a Japanese name after an anime we like. His name means of heave and earth. But it's kinda funny because the character he's named after is a bit whiny and dramatic and Tenchi can be like that too ha.
• I try naming things from characters and such but my family fusses if my names aren't semi normal  so I try to halfway make them usual. Though in the end I only name them names that I feel speak to me. Names that just feel right
