My paso came from a huge farm in Ocala.. Really she was a gift horse from my aunt/uncle. I don't know much about gaited breeds but she does have several different speeds of gaits. I assume paso largo, paso fino and something else... However, she was "broke" all wrong and have no ground manners to speak of. I've been working with her for 6 to 8 years now and I can now halter her and lead her around without her wanting to kick and run off because she spooked at the wind blowing  . Under the saddle she is amazing, as long as a leaf doesn't fly in her face  .. Or a big mud puddle in the way. It took her forever to get close to the creek in the pasture for water because she's used to water having alligators in them, at least that's my theory.

Oh that's so funny! I used to have a show saddlebred who was the same way. He was gorgeous under saddle, but really just a total spaz. I would walk him back from the pasture, and he would jump down, throwing his legs under himself if he even saw a puddle or leaf blew in front of his face. He would even spook if a horse moved next to him. I ended up selling him because I didn't show and he was too nice to sit as much as he did, but he gave me many laughs. I do know of some big farms in Florida with paso fino's. Florida in general seems to have a lot. Ever since an accident when I was younger, I have been big into gaited horses, learning about them and learning how to train all the gaits. I broke my neck and other various injuries, and I just find the gaited horses easier on my body now

Yeah, I get that. Those movies are very long, and with all the fighting I think they can be harder to get through. I started re-watching them all Friday, and still have like the last 30 minutes of the 3rd movie to go. Despite how much I love them, it's hard for me to watch them straight through.

I usually really like movies with a lot of fighting but I could just never sit all the way through one. I almost never fall asleep during movies either. The only one's I've fallen asleep while watching are LOTR and Kingdom of Heaven.

P.s. All this horse talk is making me envious lol. Growing up I always wanted a horse and we lived on a farm but my dad would never let me have one. Thus, I never really got into them or got to learn about them. I've ridden a horse maybe 2-3 times in my life and just for a short time. I would have loved to have gotten more involved, they sound like such amazing creatures.

I was actually a senior in high school before I got a horse. My parents always said no, because we live in a subdivision, and boarding can get pretty expensive. Finally though, right before senior year, I saved enough money and bought a horse, and used money from my job to board it. From there it grew. My sister is my twin, so we have always been close, so we decided to share another horse, then another and so on. It grew to the point where we had 8-9 horses at one point. Now we are down 6, but my sister is getting 1-2 this summer and I will be breeding for a foal next year. I will say though, they drain money so fast. Lol sometimes I wish I wouldn't have gotten so involved so that I have extra money now and again. But now, I am attached to them, and I have gotten involved in various clubs and communities, and it would hard to leave it all. Horses are a lot of fun, but there is quote that is so true, "you don't know the definition of teamwork until your partner is a 2000lbs. free spirit." There are defiantly moments where my "free spirits" have been so much work that I wanted to throw in the towel!!

I'd say money was a big issue as to why my dad always said no, that and my brother had a bad experience with a horse when he was younger. When I got older my uncle had about 3-4 horses and every now and again I'd visit with them. He had one I loved named Fancy and she was like a huge dog lol. She would follow you around and put her head on your shoulder and was just all round really sweet. I'm not even sure if there are any clubs or communities around me. Not a lot goes on around here really. But I would have loved to have gotten into something like that. I'm sure they are challenging to work with but I'm sure they provide a huge reward too.

Even with dogs I would have liked to have gotten into eventing in real life but there's just not anything going on around me and I don't have the means or funds to travel. I guess that's one reason I'm so into eventing here on VP lol.
  •

What books do you like to read? I love reading! :D

I'll read just about anything I can get my hands on except romance novels. My library is mostly fiction, though I do have some historical non fiction and auto biographies in it. My fiction is all over the place, from sci fi to historical, mystery to classic and some that don't seem to fit a category. Favorite authors include Clive Cussler, Colleen McCullough, Jean Auel and Tolkien. I got an auto ban when I first started Oping on VP because someone asked what I was reading in chat and I said Moby Dick. Lady Ru, another Op, gave me this dog to commemorate it <a href="http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=1239520"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=1239520

Horses are my favorite animal. I more or less grew up with them and bred QH during my second marriage. We owned a Missouri Fox Trotter once. Bought him for my oldest daughter when she was 5. I broke him in and then he sprouted until he was too tall for her. Black and white paint with lightening bolts on either side of his tail, so he was called Thunder. He moved out like a dream.

The horse bucked him off once, then threw me into a fence when I attempted to calm him down, so he thought he was dangerous. It wasn't the horse's fault. I was the only one that had ever ridden him and my husband at the time was twice my size and weight and of course used a much larger saddle. The horse was used to my leg cues while my husband mostly used rein cues. The horse got confused and acted up, husband got flustered and provoked more, so the horse had enough and bucked him off. I didn't want that lesson to stick with the horse, so I jumped up in my husband's saddle which I couldn't really reach the stirrups in and then lost the reins in the mane when the horse took off running. As Thunder came around the near end of the corral, I just slid off sideways into the fence. I had parallel bruises across my back for 2 weeks. I was beyond angry when my husband sold him at auction without consulting me. The most irritating part of the sale was that he rode Thunder before and during the auction to sell him and didn't have any trouble with him at all. We weren't married for very long after that.

After that divorce, I owned a dame and and her offspring for about a year, but had to give them away when the home building industry went belly up and we had to cut back on expenses. I just don't have time or money for them now, so I try to stay away to keep my heart from breaking.

As much as I love LOTR, I've only watched the movies a couple of times. They are incredibly long and I'm the type I don't like to be interrupted when watching them, so I have to wait until the little one is gone or asleep and I'm not too busy or tired to watch them in one sitting LOL

I'm not very adventurous with my food. My stomach is sensitive, so trying something new isn't in my best interest unless I want to spend the rest of the day/night either writhing in bed or in the bathroom. I can't eat peppers, not even much black pepper, onions, acidic things such as tomatoes and citrus, so I'm stuck mostly with stuff I cook.

Paranormal you have made me hungry! I love tomato based thing, especially with onions and garlic. I think that's why Italian is my favorite type of food, even though I like certain Japanese and French food better. I have never met a pasta or sauce I didn't like though, so that's why Italian is probably my favorite as a whole. I would say I am in the middle of you of and Alabama. I love trying new foods, but I have a super weird tongue condition where basically my taste buds and tongue are exposed and sensitive (I won't go into detail unless you are interested :P ). It gets better and worse, but on bad days ketchup tastes spicy to me and burns my tongue. On a good day, I can eat very mild salsa, but even that is pushing it. I really wish I could eat peppers, I am sure they would be flavorful!

It's nothing fancy but I put peperoni in it and it makes it yummy. I love pasta and could eat it almost daily. That and chicken are like my go to foods and when you mix the two I'm a happy camper. I love cooking with fresh garlic, I just recently started that like last year and it makes things so yummy! My mom was a really good cook but she never really taught me how to cook (she didn't want her "baby" growing up  ) I use to watch her but most stuff I've kinda learned on my own or just tinkered with recipes. My ex sister-in-law and my best friend taught me some things though. My friend is an excellent cook and I still learn lots from her!

When you were talking about your tongue condition it reminded me of an older episode of the Simpsons where Homer burns off his taste buds and has his tougue in a cast. Once the cast comes off everything is too flavorful and painful because his taste buds are all new. He ends up having to eat the kid's school food because it's bland and flavorless lol.

Lol that's so funny. Sometimes it feels like that. When my tongue is acting up, I go over my options like "ok, so its rice, bread, or more rice." Or I go unhealthy route and just drink my meals in the form of milkshakes and popsicles. I am actually having some sort of pasta tonight too. I am going to a Italian restaurant later, but I think I will go with ravioli, another of my favorites. My mom never really taught me to cook either, but it was more because she absolutely hates to cook. I think she cooks about 2 meals a year, Christmas and Easter. My dad taught me to cook desserts, like cookies and candies from scratch, but he doesn't cook meals either. Now, we wait for my sister to come home from college on the weekends to cook us meals, because she has learned to being on her own lol

You know the only ravioli I've ever had has been from a can O__o I think I'm missing out  Next time I go out to eat at an Italian place I think I'll order some ravioli for sure. I love lasagna yet have never made one myself. I need to one day as I've heard they're not hard to make. I'm just too lazy to cook most days honestly. When I do cook I tend to do so in bulk so that me and my boyfriend have a few days worth of food. It's just the two of us so it's easy to fix enough food for a few days.
