The community is quite so I was wondering if anyone felt like sharing what's going on with their kennels right now? Maybe tell us your current projects, goals and aspirations? Does your kennel have a mission statement, motto, or overall ambition to achieve? Anything else you want to share?

I'll go first. As always I'm still tinkering with a lot of ideas and making changes. I've been thinning out some of my past eventers so that my new direction takes center stage. I've finally settled upon 3 star breeds that I'm going to work on long term, German hunting terriers, Giant schnauzers, and Bohemian shepherds. These will be the breeds I work with from the ground up eventing each gen from imports before breeding. I'll still be working with other breeds but those 3 are my stars. As for my mission statement or overall ambition it's to strive for grandeur with my kennel line. I want to make Skarlythian Imperium Kennels top notch, something to be proud of, something that hopefully will inspires others to reach for glory with their own kennel.

I've also got a lot of little side projects going on still. Some of you may keep up with them a tad. I'll be launching my new club once the naming and slogan contest comes to an end. I've still got the Eventing Resource Center up and running and need to give a few of my others kennels some attention and a face lift lol.

So anyone else feel like sharing?

 • Para, I'll share :P

I'm working on a very intense line of Golden Retrievers right now. I have over 200 imports. So far it's going well, I'm just concerned about the hyper stats. In addition to reaching 10x4's I'd like to take it a step further and make the progeny into upper level eventers!
But, other than that I've been eventing some of my dogs (random breeds), and would like to welcome 2 major eventers to the VGB team; Smartys Hypnosis and Flashing Lights ~ Rain. They're both Golden Retrievers and both Nationals. I look forward to a long career with both of them as they are 8 and 6 years old, respectively.
 • I'll share!
Right now, I am focusing on a few different things. I collect 10x4s, so I working on a few lines of those. I started a trainoff this month and finally got 10x4 Swiss Mountain Dogs, Akita Inus, and Japanese Terriers. Doesn't sound like much, but I started these lines probably 2 years ago, and just got too busy or it was too expensive to get them all done. I am getting closer to my Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers, and am working on Croatian Mountain Dogs as well. I also am into eventing, and though I participate in all events, I focus on racers. I bought some top speed greyhounds a while back, and have continued breeding them to get greater and greater speeds. Lastly, I am trying to clear out some dogs. I have too many that I have kept just because I am too sentimental, or lines I am holding on to. Its going slow, but its going. I guess I am overall achieving great dogs in both stats and eventing.

 • @Syllabus that's a lot of imports, they would drive me crazy having to train them all lol. Sounds like you should hae a great line though! Here's wishing you luck with them, I'm sure they will turn out great. What event(s) are you wanting to show them in? I'm alwaus happy to hear when someone is working on lines for eventing as that's one of my passions. The 2 eventers you've added sound promissing as well. I'm sure you'll do great with them. I was out of the event ring for a few weeks and I missed it so I'm glad to be back and showing again!

@Ahs1508 I noticed that you reached 10x4s with the Swissies, congrats! I've always liked that breed and have show several in the past but never really focused on them. Are you going to event them in anything? Sounds like you've got a lot of project lines on your hands, I know the feeling as I'm working on a few now and have more lined up! It never ends ha. I event in everything and use to be really big into mushing. I still love mushing but it's slowed way down. I'm not sure if I really have a focus event at the moment. With the German hunting terriers I show them in almost all sporting events except for racing and dock jump. My Giant schnauzers are shown in shutzhund and tracking and the Bohemian sheps. are shown in assistance and search and rescue. So I guess those will become my focus events but I'll continue showing in all areas.

Thank you! I know reaching 10x4 Swissies was big for me. Not only because I was working for years on them, but because they were the first 10x4s I reached that hadn't been reached before. I was thinking of eventing them, but I'm not really sure what they would be good at. I get the basics of what type of dogs (ie. working, sporting, ect,) to enter in events, but even then I am starting to recognize certain dogs do better in certain events. Its all a bit confusing, lol. Sad I have been playing for over 11 years and still don't get eventing, but oh well  I think I stick to racing because its pretty much the top speed wins, or at least places. I have noticed on the bark park and forums, it seems like you have a lot going! Makes it more interesting though. Good luck on eventing! I noticed back when I was eventing a lot (earlier this year) that you are one of the top competitors. I have a few that will win first or second, but usually only 1 dog per event.

Eventing can be confusing especially with some events scoring a little wonky. A lot of it boils down to trial and error right now. I still use the event table <a href="http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=vpKennel/view&id=340793"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">(which can be found here) to help decide what to event dogs in, to look for in eventers, or what to breed for. If you want feel free to look at my ERC kennel (link in siggy) as it has 2 sections there with eventing tips and info. Also if you want I'd be more than happy to take a peak at some of your Swissies and see if anything stands out event wise for them. I've used mine mostly in the following working events: assistance, search and rescue, and cattle herding. Some did well others not so much lol. And thank you, I try to be a top competitor as eventing is one of my passions. One of my goals is to make it into the top 5 top kennels. I'm getting closer but am still a few spots away from #5. Soon I hope to creep into that spot :D
 • Well.. trying to get a line of 10x4 German Shepherds up and eventing..

as well as trying to win a train off LOL. I'm in second for right now, I think.

That is about it.

Lines can be a pain at times and some seem to take forever. I'm working on a Bull Mastiff line right now. Have actually been working on it on and off for a while now. It's making progress but it's slow going. I've got most my other eventers and lines at a good place right now. Still making a few changes to things here and there and need to update some of my neglected kennels lol.
 • I am two stats away from hitting 10 x 4 from imports (only 2 or 3 generations in I think).. But German Shepherds have been around for over 6 years :P.. back before the game was sold.. <.<; lol.. So that makes sense lol

It's always exciting to hit 10x4's even if its a breed that's already made it there. I'm working on the BM's for strength and they are getting to where I want but slowly. I've got some 8x4's and a few 9x4's with them but their total stats aren't too much of a focus with this line. After I get them finished I'll more than likely start a new breed for strength. I like to work on strength lines off and on while my current ones event. That way I'm not to pressured or rushed to get through with them.
 • I've been drifting from the game lately, and that saddens me. However, I have no intentions of going anywhere. Line wise, my most current pet project is a line of Australian Shepherds for sporting events. I took my old working lines and have been trying to breed a dog with 140+ in intel, endurance and speed, and also raising aggression since the working lines were low. 140+ is pretty ambitious, but anything even close to that would make me happy.

PS- I have an old, larger than life line of Giant Schnauzers that I don't know what to do with. If you ever need some fresh blood for your lines, hit me up. I'd be willing to sell most of them. I'd been working on overall stat improvement, and I had it super close to 140 intelligence with other stats above 130.

Once you get them ready to go and once I get the sporting club up and running I'd love to seem them in it.

Those sounds like a good batch of Giant Schnauzers for sure. I thought at one point you had been working on them but wasn't sure. I'm going to try to do this line as one of my "from the ground" up lines where I event each gen and let training dictate how things go. But if it doesn't work out I'll hit you up about those :D
 • I will share!
Right now I am focusing on my lines I have several I have been working on but am currently concentrating on my English Bull Dogs and West Siberian Laikas. The english bull dogs are coming along really nicely but hyper is going to be tricky. I am just training the the imports on the Laikas my goal for them is 10x4 and to event them eventually. I have several other breeds that I will work on once I finish the other 2 starting with my massive Phantom Wolf line and Cairn Terriers.

Hyper seems to be the biggest pain with most breeds. You mentioned planning to work on Phantom wolves, they can be a bit hard and tricky I'll warn ya from experience lol. It's been a long time sense I worked with them as it was one o the first lines I did but if I recall correctly not only is hyper a pain but I believe friendly was/is also. Me and someone else were working on them around the same time but separately. I believe we both got to 9x4 and were going to cross our lines but things didn't go through. But I wish you luck with them and all your lines! :D
 • Right now, i just want to get into showing again. Id love to rescue untrained dogs and just event them until regional or national and give them to novices. Something like that.

It would be great to see you back in the event ring. I love eventing and it's my passion here on VP so I'm always happy to see players get back into it or see new players get into it. I think your plan sounds lovely and would be wonderful :3
 • I just don't want to deal with having to breed and train a bunch of lines at the moment. I kind of want to de clutter and just roll with it for a while. Maybe help someone else out. We will see. I have no immediate plans as of yet
 • I know what you mean there. For a long time I had oodles of lines I was working on or wanting to work on for eventing and it just got to be too much. So I stepped back and made some changes. I still have quite a few lines to work on but I'm going about them differently and they will be long term projects instead of entire lines to do at once before eventing. I'm still trying to get rid of some of my old eventers I know I won't be using in the future but it's hard for me to let them go lol.
 • I had sooo many gifties and international breeders and such in other accounts and I don't even have the want to go searching for them. A part of me wants em but I don't want the clutter in my kennel
 • I can understand that for sure. Maybe find them and keep tabs on them? That way you know where they are and what they're being used for lol. It took me a long time to let some of my Para's branded dogs go but I've placed some with new owners and have others up for bid. I never thought I'd see that day come honestly. I've been wanting a bit of a fresh start so I've kinda forced myself to let go.
 • It's funny how when you hold onto something so strongly it begins to crush you under the weight. I've seen quite a few of them. Most are in K9 heaven. Plus I still have the ones I had to work on next from the lines so I'm not too terribly disappointed. I can still continue my work on them.
 • I know what you mean, they are just bits of data really yet, I can't help but get attached to them. There's some dogs I have here on VP that I would be devastated if anything happened to them. They are mostly my gifties that I've dyed after real life dogs but they are very important to me. Even some of my top eventers I'd be super sad if something were to happen to them. It's kinda weird how strongly attached we can become to such things but I know others who feel the same about their virtual doggies.
 • I would've been a lot more upset a year ago. I guess since I've been wrapped up in real life that I've lost some of the attachment
 • That's understandable and I'd be the same way. My attachments loosen when I'm not active in the game as well.
 • I was gonna try to event today on my tablet but its much much too slow lol
 • I know that feeling for sure! We have dial up here at home which is slow as a turtle on a good day but it still usually is enough for me to play VP. However, for the past week it's been getting worse. We've had a lot of rain which makes our phone lines really staticky and makes the net worse. On top of that my USB modem is going bad and I need to replace it. Sadly we have to get the property tax paid soon and wont have any spare cash for a few weeks so I'll have to tough it out. The past few days my net has been almost impossible and has really slowed me down here on VP> I've not been able to event sense last week and it's driving me crazy!
 • My home internet speed is wonderful luckily, but im having to run everything off my hotspot at work and it is slow.as.christmas!!
 • I'll be glad when we can move and hopefully be able to get fast net. Dial up kills me but it's my only option right now. I'm lucky VP loads and works on it, most everything else won't load at all or is just too slow for my patience haha.
 • I would die. I swear im constantly on the internet. Even when im outside im on my phone.
 • I'm usually on the internet too, even if it's slow. It does drive me crazy for sure!
