Veteran Reward gifties

edited January 2015 in General Discussion
So I just discovered something...If you dyed a dog using the veteran rewards, so that the color has the ⓵ things in front and behind, that doesn't prevent anyone from using that same color without those symbols. I just experienced it myself. I had a 1oak color I created and now someone has "recreated" it and it's like 5 or 6 oak now. And there's nothing I can really do about it because technically they're different (with or without those symbols). Had I realized it at the time I would have taken more imports :|

 • Have you spoke to an OP about this? There may be something that can be done?

 • It's more than just the symbol that makes the colors different, one also has a hyphen, so even if it weren't a reward, they would still be similar.

In most instances, when a color is this similar, the player who purchased the color first will get to keep their color and the other player will be asked to change their color. This is, of course, on a case by case basis.

Any time anyone has question or feels in some way cheated, they are welcome to put a support ticket in. We may not be able to fix it, but there is never any harm in asking.

 • I have submitted a ticket about this specific color. But if this hadn't been brought to my attention I would have had no way of knowing. And there's no way to prevent it. Normally if you try to create a dye that already exists you get an 'error message'.

 • There isn't any real way to code the game to recognize "close" matches, so you're right, no way to prevent it. If you have a color and you put it into the Puppy Plaza search and no other of the color comes up, it is a one of color. A player can take all the care they can to try and not duplicate a color, but unless they put in the exact color as it already exists, they are unknowing as well. This is why there is no "punishment" (for lack of a better word) for someone creating a goodie dye close to the same. In cases like yours, we do insist that the second creator come up with a different dye if the first creator doesn't want to change theirs.
