What faults do you see? I know he's not quite stacked properly, but I didn't have any control over the picture taking. My main concern is the splayed feet/weak looking pasterns...thoughts?

  • It is difficult to tell with just two shots and no further information, even though she's adorbs. "Show quality" isn't determined solely on the look. I can show you pictures of my winning bullies mid-comp if you'd like an idea of what she should resemble when stacked and competing, but i'd probably have to see more of her before accurately determining anything about her physical traits... different angles do different things to a picture. :p
    Goodbye old VP, hello disaster. xD
  • I show my APBT but I'm still very new to it all myself. But, some things that jumped out at me from the pictures provided... She has horrible feet. They are flat and splayed. They should be tight and cat-like. She also has a short elbow from what I can tell.
  • Scroll down on this page and the ABKC has an example of what they consider ideal. There are also different styles of Bully. That makes a difference as well.

<a href="http://theabkcdogs.org/jr-handlers"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://theabkcdogs.org/jr-handlers;
  • I have shown American Bullies for the past three years. I believe he would do swell in shows personally. It does look like he has a bit of a bowing in his legs in the front facing picture, but that might just be the way he is standing. I also see what you are saying about the splayed feet. However, I do not believe that should stop you from showing. I mean look at all of the "American Bullies" (particularly the exotics that look unhealthy and terrible to begin with) that get to show and actually win and they have SEVERAL flaws, not just your dog's two, that could just be how he is standing. Also, if you do choose to show him, work on stacking him out to where his "hump-back" is less humpy (don't worry, this is very common with Bullies, even my Dixie has it and so does her father). It is easily gotten rid of with practice of proper stacking and walking him around before the show. I advise that you stack him the proper way and take pictures for yourself to look at. Try different spacing from his front legs and back legs and see which work best. I also find stacking boards and blocks to help.

Here are some links to stacking pictures:
<a href="http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z197/xxgrabbitxx/stack.jpg"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">Side view
<a href="http://i526.photobucket.com/albums/cc347/vaqueraboricua/Fronts/3-67.jpg?t=1298447362"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">Front view (should look like the green one)
