What should I get?

My mom has been saying she wants a tablet. I'd like to get her one for Christmas but I'm not sure which one to get (there seems to be millions of different ones). I'm hoping you guys can suggest something nice that's decently priced :-) She wants something relatively small with a good amount of storage space. She's not into gaming or anything so it doesn't have to be anything special. Any ideas?

 • Ive got a samsung tab2 ,theyre pretty cheap now have good graphics and no trouble with any apps, they have good amount of memory since ive used it ive downloaded dozens of apps ,games and saved heaps of pics, ive had ocassional problems where the screens double clicked twice and added extra turns when im training my vp dogs but it doesnt seem like that will be a problem dor what you want one for ,they do over heat fairly quicky id you keep rhem on your lap or sofa while using them whixh causes the screen to freeze and you have to turn them off and on again but it doesnt have any other problems than that ,that i know of and ive had mine since last christmas. Im pretty sure theyre good priced now (not sure what the prices would be as the differ in each contry) they dont come with a stylus but you can get them for cheap if you want to use a stylus on them :)

 • Personally, I have always been extremely partial to Apple products. It always seemed to me that with them, you're getting exactly what you pay for, which is a quality product. My mom has had an iPhone 4 since forever, and the thing still runs perfectly. Plus, a friend of mine recently came to me with the iPhone or Galaxy issue, and she ended up with the Galaxy S4. She seems to like it, but coming off of using iOS she has mentioned that the operating system was hard to navigate at first (I don't know how tech savvy your mom is!) These are phones, but the operating systems are similar. Apple's software has always been incredibly user friendly, I've taught my grandmother to use it!

I did a quick comparison between an iPad mini and a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3. They seemed highly comparable, the only huge difference I can find is that the Tab is larger. They both have 16 GB of memory, which should be plenty. I own a 32 GB iPod Touch, and I have a lot of music and some very graphic heavy apps downloaded, they have only taken up about 8 GBs. Price wise, an iPad Mini is $299, while the Tab is $360.

Another option entirely would be the Kindle Fire HD, which is $230 and also has 16 GB.

 • Thanks for the input, guys :-) I have a Kindle Fire HD... I love it but it can occasionally be a little glitchy. It's also difficult to use if I need to view a document, whether it's a word document attached in an email or a pdf. My mom has always been a Windows person so I'm thinking about getting something with Windows maybe? I just want her to be able to transition back and forth from the computer to the tablet easily enough, she's not exactly tech savvy (every time she gets a new phone I have to re-teach her how to text lol). I'll look into the Galaxy Tab and the iPod, maybe get some computer store employee advice. I know people that start off with Apple love it and never leave it, and Apple users swear everything is easy to use, but switching from one to the other can be confusing. Has either of you (or anyone else) ever gone from one to the other? Was it easy to learn the new one?
