First time I've ever had to evacuate!
Trust me it's a bloody experience!

Home alone with 9 horses, 4 dogs and 3 cats.
I got a call to start evac about 2pm, by 3:30 I had all but 1 horse loaded, and 2 of the cats had disappeared under the house.
Had lots of friends around the area hitch up their floats and try and get to us, but by that stage we had police blocking nearly every road to our house. My step-dad drove his 4x4 through some brush to get past a roadblock who wouldn't let him on the property to catch the last horse (he is only a baby!) and my mum hitched a ride with riot police down to the property.
They caught him and had to trot him 1.2ks down the road to a t-intersection where we had a float waiting to load him onto. It took about 10mins as he hadn't been on a float before, except when him and his mum were brought to our property 4 months ago!

Only the back part of our property was burnt:
<a href="

We've got to tidy up the property and fix a few fences before we start bringing the horses back.
I'm just glad we all got out okay. AND. It's only 10 days after Winter "finished" and already we've had high temperatures and strong winds. Perfect bushfire weather! It's not worth the stress, make sure you all have plans set incase you ever need to evacuate!
