I'm so done with this desktop computer. I vented about it freezing up and being hauled into the shop a while back, but since it came back, it has been faster, but not quite right.

One of the ways that I like to relax is to sit in front of the computer with a snack and troll around VP while simultaneously howling along to my current iTunes playlist (the neighbors must hate me, I swear). Lately though, after a half hour or so, iTunes will start to stutter something awful, sometimes taking a good couple minutes to stop. This has only started when the computer came back from the repair shop.

So, I began to look into the problem. Somewhere it was mentioned that iTunes ran better with QuickTime, which was no longer installed on the computer when it was returned to us. Expecting an easy fix, I went and re-installed the latest version of the program. This only helped the issue a little bit. Somebody else mentioned adjusting the audio settings in QuickTime, which didn't help at all.

Eventually, I took to opening up the Task Manager to watch the computer's peformance and CPU usage history. If I notice the usage getting a little high, I back off until the percentage drops to a nicer number. This is with two programs running, AOL 9.7 (lol, I know, right?) and iTunes 11.04.

This is where it gets interesting. This said "nicer number" starts to rise over time. At first it may come down to 5% if I back off. Then maybe the low will only go as far as 15%, and so forth. It will climb until the lowest is about 50% and the littlest gesture such as scrolling will max out the CPU usage completely. When it gets this high, the stutter starts. The only temporary fix I have is to exit both programs and log off the username. I've tried for a real fix, but at this point it is beyond me.

Anybody else have similar issues or know a fix? I know that there are some people into computers on here.
