Sims lovers look!

edited June 2013 in General Discussion
So I'm deciding to get myself another now that it's summer. I have multiple Sims 2 games but for Sims 3 I just have the original. I've looked over all the different options and I'm completely torn.

I just want to know y'alls favorites and what not. Let me know what you think!

And i belive that half the time i am a wolf amoung the sheep gnawing at the wool over my eyes
  • You can never go wrong with the Sims3 Pets, they have horses now >:D
  • Horses on pets looks awesome console only has cats and dogs (as much as i love console gameing pc beats it with content everytime) does the sims 3 have one with werewolves? Because the sims 2 did and it seemed pretty cool

  • Supernatural! Seasons! Pets! Ambitions!
and .. Island Paradise is released in 2 weeks. I'M VERY EXCITED.

University Life is good too! And pretty much all other Expansion packs I like. The stuff packs I think are a complete waste of money, considering you can download most of the new content (and a crap-tonne of Custom Content) for free anyhow. ;D

Speaking of Sims, I'm about to start playing! *runs away*

  • Simm you did not narrow down my choices at all. Haha I think I'm leaning towards pets.

I also have the Sims 3 on console but I prefer pc. Its like you have more control on the computer. Maybe its just me.

  • I seem to like them all, I just have prombles with the game crashing and I'm over fixing it, I would love to get the new pack coming out, just for the diving as its what I do in real, but also sims 4 is coming out next year I'v seen/heard... so maybe wait till they come cheap because of that?

LOL never get sims on anything esle they suck ;F just a waste of cash to get it on xbox.

  • Pets on xbox is better than 3 on xbox (the characters arent though)but theyre both a waste of money, and the dlc for sims 3 cost like 1200points!!! I can a few arcade games for that or buy stuff for vp and still have spare cash
Cant wait til sims 4 ,even though my work pc cant handle the sims.

  • 4 is already coming out? I feel like that was really quick. 3 has been out longer then I thought I guess.

My Sims 3 crashes too. It seriously drives me crazy. I save every couple of minutes because I'm so paranoid.

My old laptop couldn't handle Sims at all. And that was when there was only Sims 2. Luckily that thing died, probably because of my continued Sim use. Haha

  • You know, pretty much everybody around me is always talking about the Sims, but I've never played it! Could somebody.. enlighten me? From what I've seen it's looks addicting, and I'd consider getting it if I knew what it was about. D:
You...havent...played...the...sims???
Wow i cant imagine never having played the sims. Idd compare it to barbie dolls for
the slightly more mature (and if your like me a little bit evil...heheheh no swimming pool ladders no doors .trapped)
It is very adicting i always go back to the sims ,probably because i like controling the lives of people who arent real :p
Im not doing it much justice with my explanations but you should 100% play it whenever you get the chance :)

Anything can become addicting if you enjoy it ;P but yes it is controlling computer player lives xD and building your on own house to make it yours and can pretty much do whatever, make them poor or rich, live a good life or a bad one xD.

  • And you make them work and super smart when they learn skills like "Logic" and "athletic" and you know, other stuff! More skills, worlds you play in, characters, job/professions etc are all available with the more expansion packs you buy. Stuff packs are like, extra decorations and clothings and stuff.

If I had to pick. I'd have to say Ambitions. (Although I really love all the others!!) But I love that Ambitions bought Professions to the game, as I love climbing career ladders. xD Seasons is equal first, it's fantastic to have so much realism!
Supernatural would have to be my second favourite, vampires and werewolves. duh! My only annoyance is that you can't attack a Sim without their consent. I'd rather drain/kill or drain/turn sims without their approval. This isn't Twilight people!
World adventures and University Life and great with the extra Worlds you can visit, and the new skills (WA: martial arts, photography, nectory. UL: social networking, science) Although unfortunately for me, my computer doesn't like visiting the foreign worlds and freeze non-stop. :/
Pets I love, of course. It doesn't play up anymore, but I don't make families with animals anymore, just because if I want to get one, I adopt from the families or adopt a stray. xD
Generations is great, although I can't even remember any additional things it brought with it as I'm so used to it. xD

-
Is that better Tuff? hahhahaha SEASONS. GET SEASONS. xD

That is much better! Though it makes me want all of them. I should've started buying them a long time ago haha Seasons sounds very interesting, I'd love for it to rain or change to winter. All that sounds great. Might have to go with that one and the pets one. It's too hard to choose between the too

And Frost! You must try it. I haven't met a single person that said they didn't like it. I don't want to know how many hours I've wasted just playing around with all my little families haha About as much time as I've wasted on vp!

  • GET THEM ALL! -ahem- >.>

I have them all =3

I tell you what is fun, buying the worlds from the actual Sims 3 Store. I has them aaall!

But seriously, you can pick up some of the older EPs now for well cheap online or in shops when they have offers on. Your best bet is to attempt to buy them all over time, and then play them. As people have different opinions on what is awesome and what ones suck. For me personally I dislike University, Showtime and World Adventures. University sold itself on that you could attend the classes. But you don't really. Showtime is ok if you want to advance in singing/music/acrobatics type profession, and World Adventures is just effort going to a completely different world for a limited time (you have to earn points whilst you are away to be able to unlock the options to stay longer in the world).

I love Generations because it is bringing more options for the children/teens. I liked Pets because of the whole new horses thing, but a bit disappointed you can't do agility events in the park with your dog like you could in the previous Sims games. Most of all I loved Seasons because obviously weather is just a must! Supernatural is so-so, is fun if you like to try create a hybrid wolf-vampire-witch-fairy thing (you also get vampires in this even if you don't have Late Night). Late Night brings in "apartments", but its a tall building you zap to the top floor and you are like the only person that lives there. You don't seem to have neighbours like you did in the previous versions. But if you are into the nightlife/bar experience then its an ok EP.

That's like the majority of them, and like I said it depends on the person as I know some love World Adventures etc. I will say though the new EP coming out next Friday (for me), looks god damn amazing! House boats, scuba diving, getting eaten by sharks and the ability to build and run your own resort - that sounds awesome to me! Yet you or others might find that boring lol.

Don't get into downloading too much CC (custom content) as your computer will be sad, like mine is XD I have maybe 2000+ items that I've downloaded =( and the thing lags like hell in the build/buy modes when trying to load the catalogs :/

  • That new one sounds amazing to me as well.
I try to resist downloading things because my computer does the same thing. And it picks and chooses what it wants to actually download.

For Generations what options do you get for the children and teens?

You can teach your teens to drive, they just have more options with just interacting with each other and playing. Can send kids off to boarding school, sign them up for afterschool activities.

Its a good EP if you are into families, I prefer playing with the families and having huge family trees (so I pick a child each generation and raise them up to have their own family etc etc).

These two websites are awesome to refer to for features in the game:
<a href="http://sims.wikia.com/wiki/The_Sims_3"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://sims.wikia.com/wiki/The_Sims_3; - I use this one as a general overview to know what is in each game
<a href="http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com; - This one has walkthroughs and explains features in each EP with helpful points (<a href="http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/generations/"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/generations/; link for generations if you want to read into it).

  • Ooh I love Sims! I have 2 and 3 but I prefer to play around on 2. Sims 3 doesn't really do it for me. Not sure why. Although, I might consider getting the Pets expansion pack for 3... I have the Apartment Life and Pets EPs for 2 and I'd really like to get Seasons. I don't have any EPs for 3...yet. It's just so addicting, controlling your own little world!

  • Paper - I like doing the same thing. Then at birthday parties I have a bunch of people and what not without having to be friends with town people. I don't like making that effort haha
Thanks for the links, they're very helpful!

Dragon Shadow - I actually prefer two as well! That's why I have expansion packs for two and not three. Though I haven't played two in a long time because I'm hesitant to have both two and three installed on my laptop. I don't want it get overwhelmed and slow.
