OMG Canon Fix it!

edited May 2013 in Vent
So for the past couple of days I have been trying desperately to get all the drivers for my multi-functional printer. In order to actually use it as I would like... Unfortunately I have no idea where the disk that came with the printer is... so I have to use the website...

Usually... you can find all the drivers in a zip file that acts just like the CD... not with Canon... their website is so disorganized... all the drivers are like separate... in no organized manner. I managed to find the printer drivers after some time searching... but for the life of me I cannot find the scanner drivers...

Why can't they just make it simple... well that's the last time I buy a canon printer, no matter how cheap it is... their site is one of the worst sites I have ever used... being a web development student, and testing many different websites I know what a bad website is...

With wanting to go into usability of websites (making them user efficient and making it easy for people to use), it annoys me more than it probably should...

End of rant

HP are the best for customer support and such... the main thing was that it was really disorganized and I couldn't even find what I was looking for because it was the most disorganized thing ever, and then right in the middle of searching it kept crashing, to finally say "we are undergoing maintenance, Thank you for your patience" at that point I had no patience LOL... go straight to the american site, find it within a couple of seconds, and it works... stupid people should just have one site preferably the american one

 • I've never had this problem, but when I plug something new into my laptop it just automatically searches for and installs the drivers XD

It normally does but certain things that come with CDs you have to physically find the drivers as they are contained on the CD... real pain when you loose said CD lol

 • Yeah printers normally need drivers to use all features. Some can plug and play but you won't get everything working. Mine would sometimes be picked up by the wizard on windows, but not always! I know I've the CD in a box .... Somewhere! Lol

Sometimes if you just Google the brand and model with 'driver'on the end you can get sites that host that driver for the version of windows you want.

My phone actually will offer the driver file to install onto a new pc I plug into xD -pets phone-

my phone, external hard drive, nexus 7 tablet and all that no need to faff around with drivers they are all nice and offer them up... but printers nope, they are just evil, and probably don't have the capability to store drivers...
