So I know what an import is, but I was wondering what the appeal is to making imports and starting lines and such?
Not too familiar with this technical stuff, some information on would be super awesome.
Having your own lines and being able to say i put put alot of effot in to making something great and breeding it fir specific events like a whole line bred up to make the best flyball dogs or highest speed stats etc....thats what you were asking about right?

Well, most players use imports for a combination of reasons. In the early years, imports were used to produce clean lines. Inbreeding used to be very, very taboo, to the point that many seasoned players didn't do dog-related business with those who inbred.

Currently players use imports to start a clean or inbred line from scratch. They might not like the stock already in game or they need more stock to add to their current load. Finding quality dogs that meet your needs is also difficult, especially with many other players not wanting to release intact members of their lines. Plus, having a line to call your own is something unique - you get complete control over your own private bloodline, and it's one of the few things you can have exclusively to yourself (in a public breed.)

Personally I use imports because I don't like public dogs (for breeding) at all. I used to be one of those who stood against inbred lines, so a full inventory of imports was essential. Currently my prized lines are clean bred; my 'let-me-waste-time' lines were inbred. My goals were always to reach 10x4, and nothing beats the pride you get from knowing you worked with them from beginning to end.

Also, the respect/acknowledgement received from others for starting a line at imports and working your way up to 10x4, competition quality pups, etc. is something special too. Anyone can just go out and buy high statted offspring on the market and get instant 10x4s, but it takes dedication and skill to breed a line up.
