Boarding...

edited March 2013 in Questions/Support
So I just started putting my dogs in boarding. I used to just groom them then leave them in holding kennels, but now I want to raise a/c for eventing. I also find it helpful in keeping my dogs from aging while I'm breeding.

My question is, how long do you have to leave a dog in boarding to get any significant results? I believe I read somewhere that events only calculate a/c up to 250, so anything above that would really only be good for breeding purposes. Most of my dogs have a/c 215-220 when I finish training. Assuming I board in a kennel that checks on my dogs multiple times a day, about how long would it take to get that extra 30-40 points?

I've seen people talk about having to board dogs for years to get results... Is this true? I think I'd rather just open another holding kennel :|

 • I am sure someone can anwer this better but for me, all dogs are differnt. I have one dog that gained about 3 points per week; of course this is not the 'norm' - wish it was! And I also have dogs that have not gained in over two years - again not the 'norm'. Both dogs were from the same kennel and boarded in the same kennel so there were not different variables in either case.

Hope this helps!
