Really?

People are idiots. Yesterday I found out from a friend that another friend of mine and her friend were riding pumpkin without my permission. I texted her and asked if she had ridden him and she said no she just let him graze so I asked someone else if they saw her riding him and she said yes. Apparently her friend, who by the way is a very beginner rider, was cantering him, and then my friend got on him and tried to jump him...wut. I went to my locker (that she knows the combo to) and everything was trashed. I had just cleaned it out and organized everything, but when I opened it my saddle and saddle pads were thrown on the ground, all my grooming stuff had been gone through, and one of my extra halters was in the cross ties. Like seriously? If youre going to use MY tack and ride MY horse without my permission, could you at least my considerate of my things? Take note that she owns a horse, yet she thought it was necessary to ride mine.. What if he had gotten hurt and I had no idea she had been riding him? I sent her a text again and this time she didn't answer because she knew I found out she had lied to me..oops.

People

  • Have you talked to your BO about that?! If someone were riding my horses without my permission or even using my tack without asking i would have SUCH a fit!!
  • I would definitely consider changing the lock on your tack locker.
I'd be SOOOO mad if I EVER caught ANYONE riding Knip without my permission >.< (even my trainer!) And lying about it would be a whole other story :/
At least you handled it well ;)
I would talk to the barn owner about it and see if maybe she can confront the person so it doesn't happen again :/

I talked to my dad and were getting a new lock, I just don't want to make a huge deal because she was my friend and I'm kind of wimpy, I'm don't have the guts to talk to the owner about it because I don't want to start drama lol

I am pretty mad though O:
Yep were getting a new lock, I wish she hadn't lied to me because she was my friend, so I'm not only mad but my feelings were kind of hurt.

Oh well

It's kinda the sort of situation where you need to get some guts and talk to them though... it's not ok to ride another persons horse without permission, no matter what... if your horse had done something to injure her or the other person, you and/or your barn owner would have potentially been liable, your horse could have been injured- he may have needed to be put down... if this person gets away with it this time without someone in charge being informed what's to say they won't try it again with worse results, maybe with someone else's animal?
    (SPIDERS!)
  • I seriously would not let such a thing slip. She could be seriously messing with your horse's training or his own health. She could be teaching him some really bad habits or even hurting his mouth.

I dont let ANYONE ride even my kids horse lesson horse without me being there and having the right to pull them off my horse if i feel theyre doing damage to him, his training, or anything i felt wasnt good for him.

This makes sense. :P I sent her a long message, telling her that if this ever happened again she would be getting in a lot more trouble.
