Hi everyone!<br><br>Over the next 12 days we will be making a series of new breed releases to celebrate the holiday season. We are making the first release today - watch the homepage and stay tuned to this thread to be notified when the new breeds are released!<br><br>December 27:<br><span style="font-weight:bold">1. Striped Hyena</span><br>The smallest of the true hyenas, the Striped Hyena is native to Africa and Asia. It is a stout-bodied animal with slender legs, the hind legs being shorter than the forelimbs. It sports a thick neck and blunt skull. The bite of the Striped Hyena is strong enough to splinter a camel's thigh bone. As the name implies this animal's coat bears a striped pattern along with long guard hairs and a bristly mane; this mane can be raised to make the hyena appear much larger than it really is.<br><br><span style="font-weight:bold">2. McNab Shepherd</span><br>The McNab breed was established in California by the Alexander McNab family using stock they brought from Scotland. These dogs are descended from Scotch or Fox Collies (also an ancestor of the Border Collie.) They range vastly in appearance, though predominantly coats are black or red with white markings. Some of these dogs have natural bob-tails. McNabs were developed to herd cattle, though they will herd most any animal and can even succeed as hunting dogs.<br><br><span style="font-weight:bold">3. Cambodian Razorback Dog</span><br>The Cambodian Razorback Dog is an extremely rare breed of dog - at present it is not formally recognized as a breed by the locals, though the Berger family is striving to officialize it as a breed. They are used by farmers as hunting and protection dogs. As the name suggests, this breed sports a pronounced ridge or "razor" of fur on the back. Socialization of these dogs at an early age is key, to prevent them from becoming overly aggressive toward strangers.<br><br>December 30:<br><span style="font-weight:bold">1. Sulimov Dog</span><br>The Sulimov Dog is a Russian Jackal-Dog Hybrid originating from an initial hybrid between two Lapponian Herders and two Turkmen golden jackals. The primary use of this breed has been to aid airport security as sniffer dogs. The jackal-dog hybrids were bred together for seven generations to establish the breed. They proved hard to train, so other dogs were bred into the line: a reindeer herding hound, a fox terrier, and a Spitz. the result was an easily trainable dog with a superior sense of smell.<br><br><span style="font-weight:bold">2. Croatian Mountain Dog</span><br>Croatian Mountain Dogs are large and powerful dogs, with well proportioned, almost square bodied features and agile movements. The Croatian Mountain Dog has a calm temperament. A typical adult Croatian Mountain Dog is very calm, peaceful, on first sight an indifferent animal, but when the situation demands it, it is a vigilant, a very alert watchdog. Croatian Mountain Dogs belong to the rare livestock protection breeds, and share many characteristics with other Mountain dogs.<br><br><span style="font-weight:bold">3. Winter Wolf</span><br>The Winter Wolf is a larger sub-species of Dire Wolf. It is possible for a human to bond with a Winter Wolf, when this occurs the wolf will remain loyal to their human, never leaving their side. It has been said that some humans with a bonded Winter Wolf even develop the ability to see through their wolf's eyes, and experience dreams where they are one with the wolf.<br><br>January 2:<br><span style="font-weight:bold">1. Norwegian Lundehund</span><br>The Norwegian Lundehund (Norsk Lundehund) is a small dog breed of the Spitz type that originates from Norway. Its name is a compound noun composed of the elements Lunde, meaning puffin (Norwegian lunde "puffin" or lundefugl "puffin bird"), and hund, meaning dog. The breed was originally developed for the hunting of puffins and their eggs.<br><br><span style="font-weight:bold">2. Barbet</span><br>The Barbet is a rare breed. Most Barbet, especially those shown in conformation shows, are entirely black, black and white, or brown. It is common to see white chest spots and white paws or legs on black or brown coated dogs. Parti, Creme, and Pied variations are being born but in very limited numbers.<br>Male Barbet usually grow to be about 21-25 inches (52 cm to 65 cm) tall, and they weigh between 40 and 60 pounds (18 kg to 27 kg), while the females usually grow to be about 20 to 23 inches (50 cm to 53 cm) tall, and they weigh between 30 and 50 pounds (13.5 kg to 23 kg). <br><br><span style="font-weight:bold">3. Hungarian Pumi</span><br>The Pumi is a medium-small terrier-type breed of sheep dog from Hungary. The Pumi has been used as a "general farm dog", shepherding not only sheep but also cows and pigs, and also for catching small rodents. It originated in the 17th or 18th century, when shepherding terriers were brought to Hungary from Germany and France. These terrier-type dogs mixed with the Puli-type dogs that were in Hungary, and the result was a terrier-type herding dog. As a working dog, it was quite freely bred until the 1970s, and other Hungarian dogs such as the Puli and Mudi were used for breeding. <br><br>January 5:<br><span style="font-weight:bold">1. Welsh Sheepdog</span><br>The Welsh Sheepdog is a distinct herding breed used mainly in sheep work, though they have been replaced by Border Collies in the past decades. The Welsh Sheepdog has a varied structure, but they generally have a collie-like appearance. <br><br><span style="font-weight:bold">2. Medieval Battle Dog</span><br>The Medieval Battle Dog is a medium-sized, muscular built war dog. During the Middle Ages, these versatile dogs were used to help capture cities and protect the King. Most dogs were given from the King as gifts to the best of knights, as they were often more expensive than a war horse. The Medieval Battle Dog is bred to be dark in color, though occasionally pups were born white. These pups were believed to have special purposes, and were used as guardians of the King's family.<br><br><span style="font-weight:bold">3. Culpeo</span><br>The Culpeo fox can be found west of the Andes Mountains in South America. Their height is described to be between that of a red fox and a coyote. They are typically a reddish brown with a grey back, similar to a jackal.
