Fire

edited December 2012 in Vent
So the little community we are going to be moving into is kinda like its own little town. It's within city limits and isn't like a condo place at all. These little cottages were originally only meant to be summer cottages for a couple weeks at a time. People later decided lets winterize and live year round here. Some of these places you can't even walk between them they are that close together. Our cottage is close to the front and has a small road on 2 sides and drive ways on the other two. So we are fairly lucky to not be up against someone else. We haven't moved in yet still in the fixing it up stage. Tonight I took my little brother over to help me paint. We aren't there 2 minutes when a sqad goes up the street. (when I say street I mean it's smaller then a 1 way and you can't park on it. It's like a old cow path paved over). We think some elderly person fell or something. Then another goes by. Then we hear the fire truck siren. He steps onto the porch and is like 'uh there's a fire'. It was 5 houses away basically. We grabbe some things and got out of there. I've never been close to a unintentional fire before and it's scary. Specially when it's on the same street as your newly bought house. 1 place is burnt to the ground completely, and about 4 others are damaged. 2 for sure will have to be taken down. Scariest few minutes of my life. I was calm till we got out of the community and onto a real road. I never want to do that again. All I could think of was if he gets hurt mom's gonna shoot me. No one was hurt that we know of and as of right now our cottage is fine. The fire is under control but still burning. It started around 7pm est time.
Anyone else ever had a fire scare?

 • Weve had a couple actually. Living in the woods like i do when theres a forest fire it is terrifying. They get big and out of control VERY fast. And then owning all the livestock we do and having our living BE the farm if it burned we would pretty much be screwed. Luckily weve always had the fires come under control before we had to evacuate and luckily i have a best friend whos family has two trailers and knows how to deal with horses, cows, sheep, dogs, ect because they have the same kind of animals i do xD
 • Ori you don't want to.

Wow I wouldn't want that. I want to live kinda in a forest but I really don't want to at the same time. I can't imagine how many times you guys have had scares. Forest fires aren't anything to mess with for sure

In truth its only happened twice that i know of. Once when there was a storm that caused the fire and the other was when a neighbors fire got out of hand. And those were both at least 6 or 7 years ago. I prefer to live in the woods though. I had a picture of a deer and one of a fox on my phone camera and i had a friend ask me where we went hunting where the animals would get that close xD I said "stand outside for about 10 minutes and something will show up"
