Dropping in to say hello

edited December 2012 in General Discussion
Hello everyone! Regardless if you played when I did, I'd like to just say hi. I finally remembered my forum login info after having forgotten it for quiet some time.

So hi everyone! It's been a while. I am in college now and out of my teen years. I feel like I've mellowed out a lot more now and not wound as tightly as I used to be. I still don't and won't play the game but I'd still like to see how everyone is doing. I occasionally buy things on here though with playcash because I have some to burn when I find something interesting. My latest purchase was a dye for this dog: <a href="http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2356611"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2356611; (If anyone gets the reference feel free to message me about it)!

Things at home are terrible. I'm not going to go into it but our family has been having hard times like a majority of others out there. If you are in a financial and hurting situation, I wish you luck and you can make it though. Hopefully things will settle down around us and maybe we can relax when the rest of the holidays come around in December.

How are you guys? Any new furry additions to your family? Any new accomplishments on the game? Anything you feel proud about? =)

For me, I have no new furry additions or accomplishments on the game other than getting my gifties organized (which I had done maybe a few months ago). What I feel proud on is having done 4 pages so far on my research paper. I still have a long way to go though!

  • Hey Tarn! It's been a while! I hope things look up for you all soon.

Any new furry additions? Yes! I've gotten probably two new dogs since you've been on last. Not actually sure when that was but anyhow, I still have my APBT Emily. Adopted a little scruffy mutt dog, Bayleigh, and finally got my conformation dog, another APBT called Pirate. I've bred 10x4s of 13 breeds now and I'm working on my 14th, but slowly. Anywho... enough bragging about myself. lol
  • Thanks Zag~ I can hope it does get better. You're right though, it has been a while! I'm glad to see familiar faces!

Bayleigh? Is that pronounced like Bailey? I would love to see pictures! =) I love mutts and pitts. My one friend's mother has a pitbull. She scared me when she came running out at me but she was just a sweetie. I brought her in every morning to keep me company. She'd just sleep at on the floor all cozy.

13 breeds? You've been busy! Wow. Did you train them all yourself or have train offs? Remember when breeding was a little messed up and 10x4s were so difficult to get? So glad that was fixed! Makes all the work actually end in success!
    8x32tt.png
  • Yes, Bayleigh is pronounced like Bailey. Just wanted to give her a different spelling.

Bayleigh, Pirate, and Emily
<a href="http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h239/ZagariPitBullLover/MerryChristmas.jpg"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h239/ ... istmas.jpg
Color picture
<a href="http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h239/ZagariPitBullLover/IMG_2810.jpg"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h239/ ... G_2810.jpg

I've trained some of the dogs in my lines and I've had others help me too. I'm such a slow groomer so it's just easier to get some help. Plus, I'd much rather train someone else's dogs rather than my own. Weird, I know. lol I hated when breeding was messed up. When I kept trying for 10x4 APBTs, I had over 200 imports and only 98 hyper. Blah! When the fixed it, 10x4s were popping up like crazy! If you want to see the breeds I've finished, just go to the Gifties tab on my layout.
<a href="http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=vpKennel/view&id=111846"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=vpKennel/view&id=111846;
  • They are all so cute~ I love both of those pictures. Bayleigh looks like she could be a little scrapper! All scruffy and looking like a classic mutt~

I never really minded if they were my dogs or other people's but I get what you mean. I would much rather clean someone else's things than my own for sure. I did take a look and already I see a breed I don't remember seeing before I left. I wonder how many were added.. Anyways, nice job =D Thats a good list of firsts! ^^

  • Hi Tarn! I'm dropping in from an extended break too :P

-Shepherd

  • Hi Shep! I didn't know you no longer played either! I guess we had good timing to not miss each other when we decided to stop by! =)

Hey Coaster, its been a long time~

Bayleigh is actually half Yorkie and half Shih Tzu according to the lady who surrendered her to the shelter. She was three months old at the time.

A handful of new breeds have been added to the game plus many new personal breeds. Most have already reached 10x4.
  • Heya Tarn :) I must say I was hoping this was going to be an "I'm coming back" post, and was disappointed that it wasn't :P Regardless it's good to hear from you and get an update on what's going on! I miss all the oldies in chat.

Nothing really new here for me except that I guess I got my Algonquin Wolves after you left. They are based on the red wolves at Algonquin Park.

No new furries, but I live vicariously through Zag with Pirate (whom I would steal except that he's illegal here :P)

Hope things get better for your family :)

  • Hey Paige, how is it going? Anything new with you? =)

She is a cute Zag! I love how scruffy she looks. I see you're right about the new breeds! I scanned the lists and caught a ton that are brand new including Halloween ones. Thats awesome! Keep everyone all busy and everything! ^^

I miss the oldies too Ori! I miss old chat a ton! I sometimes stop in there but its all a ghost town. We need to get chat rocking again =). I still talk to Young Native, Nickel, and Evlon through other chat servives. If you use MSN or Skype you should hit me up! I think I remember seeing the Algonquins on the list a while back when I peered on the site. Sounds like an awesome breed! You always have great ideas! I have no new furries either, if I did, it'd be a cat ^^. Sounds like Zag's Pirate is getting all the lovin'

I would come back but honestly I get sucked into things way too easily. Right now I need to focus on school and snagging a job which I am getting a resume together for. I joined another online dog sim game for awhile and became part of staff but realized it was taking too much of my time. I will still drop by, scan forums, and anyone who wants to talk, is free to ask for my skype or msn =)

VP will always be an important part of my life. I made some good friends on here and I've actually lived with Young Native for a little and we see each other in real life when we have the time and money. It's so strange to think about the old days with all the old players and how things used to be. Makes me sad and happy at the same time.

  • fael! :( I'm not playing anymore but I check forums/chat every once in a while. Sorry to hear things aren't so great at home! I know the feeling, we just got back on our feet after a really long rough patch. I'm living on my own now, working a full time job, and going to school full time, and it's hell, but you gotta do what you gotta do, right? I don't know if you've ever seen either of my furbabies! But I have <a href="http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc7/419168_4556042978781_1795247881_n.jpg"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">two tortie kitties named <a href="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc7/396602_4814505240176_1067067399_n.jpg"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">Sophie and <a href="http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc40/Sea-Oats/0A17C017-1D06-4FA0-929E-996EA9081D9D-9226-00000756869BD65A.jpg"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">Rue, and they are precious. I'd love to catch up, you should message me!

  • On your own? Thats a huge step! What kind of college is it? A 4 year or 2 year? I think I remember seeing one of your torties..not sure if I remember both. They are adorable either way! I think torties have lots of little personalities in them. Very cute names by the way! =) Yeah we do need to catch up! Sounds like you've been busy! Way to take life by the horns Vivi! ^^
    8x32tt.png
  • You definitely wouldn't know Rue, I just rescued her in August, but I've had Sophie since May 2011. I'm definitely a firm believer in 'tortitude', they're so feisty and talkative. Rue is a manx, and they usually have crazy personalities too, so she's just a mess. I'm getting an associates degree in nursing, it's technically a three year program. Living on my own is crazy, but I love it!

  • Hi Tarn! Haven't talked to you in forever! I hope everything gets easier.

Ryan and I just bought our first house. So that's interesting. Still just have Skyra. I'm hoping for a new fur baby soon though.
    4q6h53.png
  • Sophie does sound familiar so that must be the kitty that I remember. I believe in the tortie tude as well. My two torties Kali and Reno both have attitudes but in different ways. Reno looks like your Sophie but fatter and looks like a raccoon lumbering away when she runs. Very cute girls~ =)
It must be crazy! Are you living with roommates or is it totally on your own? I'm nervous to make that step when it inevitably comes. I like being alone and would like to be in charge of my own mess and not other's, but I don't like the idea of getting old ^^;.
--
Hey Triss! It has been awhile. So many people are getting their own places! That must be exciting. My favorite part if I got a new place was getting all the new house things like towels, kitchen ware, chairs, etc.
If you did get a new fur baby, what kind would it be? =)
    8x32tt.png
  • I'm not getting my own place =( in fact I've done the reverse and gone from living in my own place to moving back in with dad =( lame.

But shame you aren't sticking around, I need someone to buy my layouts ;D

  • That doesn't sound good Paper =(. I wish you luck with everything~ And I love your layouts. I actually am out of ideas for any layout if I wanted to change mine up. I still love my current one =)
Lyccc *waves back* We need to talk more on msn! For sure!
    8x32tt.png
  • If I got another fur baby it would be another sibe for now. A male to keep Skyra company. I'm actually thinking of importing one or getting one from a show/working kennel semi nearby.
    4q6h53.png
  • TARNN TARN TARN!!!
I missed you <3

Um I got Parker in 2010, another Wheaten, yeah... I got 10x4s with the Witchys and yeah...

  • Sibes are so pretty but I don't think I could handle one myself. Seems like they require a bit more exercise and need more training than others. They are so beautiful though. Someone on my street either has a siberian husky or a malamute. I'm not quite sure which one. Is there a certain way to tell the difference? =)

Hey Wheaty! Another really oldy! I'm glad you reached the 10x4s on the wheatons! I remember you working on them before I left! Congrats!
    8x32tt.png
  • They can be a handful at times. Definitely very strong willed. Skyra talks back every time I give her a command and she doesn't want to do it. But thankfully she normally will still do it. You won't find a more loyal or affectionate dog though. She has to sit on my feet when I get home and give me the once over. Lol if you really want one in the future looking for kennel or hobby breeder that has a mix of working, a tad bit of show and then pet lines. If i remember correctly you aren't exetremely far away. So just let me know if you ever want one. Im going to be working with sibes and german shepherds for my kennel. The ones from working lines are far more loyal and not as apt to run off. We can let Skyra out without a leash and she stays in the yard even when a cat walks by. They are also easier to train then your average Sibe because they want to be close to you and run with you. Skyra gets walked each day or I run her with my bike. That satisfys her. Or we can stick her in with Brandi at my parents and that does the trick too. Malamutes are bigger then Sibes. Some Sibes are huge too but they really aren't supposed to be over 70ish lbs. especially if it's for show it's lower then that. Malamutes are designed to have more bulk for pulling sleds. Their chest is broader then that of a Sibe and should be taller. Sibes are the smallest sled dog. Skyra's back is right around my knee and I'm 5'6.
    4q6h53.png
  • I am not terribly far away? I can't remember what areas certain members lived in. I dont know if those sled dogs are for me, especially with that shedding fur. I absolutely adore germman shepherds. I used to own one but she had to pass on because she could no longer stand or go to the bathroom outside without being carried. She was one of the best dogs we ever had. So loyal and listened well.

Skyra sounds like a cute dog =). My dogs care less when I get home. Do you have a picture? I'd love to see her!

Thank you for the info on the mals/sibs. I was never really sure what made a difference. I have nothing to compare the dog in my neighborhood against but he is not terribly big and if I had to guess, I think I'd go with siberian husky. Such a beautiful dog. It looks so out of place in this type of area.

Sorry it took a little while to respond. I got a research paper finished for one of my college classes. I am practically home free for the semester now. Feels good~ Staple couldn't make it through all the pages xD.
