The New Girl!

On Sunday of last weekend, my friend posted that she was desperately needing to get rid of her current dog before she had her FIFTH child, introducing yet again another toddler. Her current kids would abuse/be mean to the dog, even though they didn't know they were doing anything wrong. This dog had already been taken back to the shelter three times before, and I wasn't going to see it taken back again. That same day, I drove the three hour drive to my friends house and took home this sweet little girl. Please welcome, the one and only, Oreo! She is a Terrier Mix(as stated on papers) and is a year and about 3 months old.

<a href="http://i46.tinypic.com/e8red3.jpg"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://i46.tinypic.com/e8red3.jpg
In the Backyard

<a href="http://i49.tinypic.com/2ahulgj.jpg"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://i49.tinypic.com/2ahulgj.jpg
Playing with Lucky(its a bit blurry because god forbid they stay still for a second)

<a href="http://i46.tinypic.com/icokzs.jpg"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://i46.tinypic.com/icokzs.jpg
Cozy on the Couch

<a href="http://i47.tinypic.com/egvk9v.jpg"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://i47.tinypic.com/egvk9v.jpg
Tongue

<a href="http://i47.tinypic.com/2rw2lck.jpg"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://i47.tinypic.com/2rw2lck.jpg
In the Backyard

<a href="http://i47.tinypic.com/11bitn9.jpg"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://i47.tinypic.com/11bitn9.jpg
Yes Mom?

<a href="http://i47.tinypic.com/1gi0qb.jpg"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://i47.tinypic.com/1gi0qb.jpg
Head shot

10/25/12

I feel she is settling in well. We are still working on house training, but other than that, she is an angle. Lucky and Oreo get along great and are always playing. Both of them sleep right next to my side at night. Fingers crossed she isn't putting on a show of being this calm, sweet, baby girl.:)

Stay tuned for more pictures and updates!

 • Cute pup! Almost looks like a big Patterdale though I doubt that's what she is. :) Have fun with her!

I am not to familiar with what a Patterdale is, so I wouldn't know. My father thinks he sees Chihuahua in her face, but I don't really know. She is extremely light, only about 15-20 pounds. :) Any ideas on house training? I am usually good with this, but she doesn't stop using the bathroom inside. Even when I walk her and have her outside for hours upon hours, she always goes inside!
 • That is probably about right for a Pats weight. They are crazy intense little hunting dogs. Not for the average owner and not very common which I why I doubted that was what she was. She really looks like on in the face though in my opinion.

As for house training, what I do with my dogs when they are first starting out is take them about every 15 minutes. It's time consuming but it works! And then slowly work them up! Every half hour, every hour, etc.

Ah, that would make sense:) I will definitely try that! As for being crazy, she really is a calm dog. She has spells of hyperness, but those are rare. Usually she just curls up in my lap, next to me, or in another chair next to me and sleeps.
