Alright. So, this happened a couple days ago around where I live.

Apparently, someone dropped a Pit Bull (roughly 9-10 months) off on the side of a very busy highway with some food. Obviously they didn't want the dog anymore and wanted someone else to have it. However, dropping it off on the side of a highway is definitely not the way to go with it. Pit bulls aren't really popular around here (they're not banned...we just live more out in the country) and I know it's hard for a Pit to get adopted out of a shelter..but at least it would've had a chance then.

The reason I know about it is because our Humane Society got a call on the dog and went to pick him up. Poor little guy was terrified-he wouldn't even let them get near him at all. They tried everything they could but he was just too scared and they didn't wanna scare him to the point he'd dart out in traffic. Also, a person who was very interested in the dog stopped to try to coax the dog to him, but the dog was scared of the guy as well. They tried food, treats, water...everything they could possibly think of.

They tried for 2 hours to get the dog to come near them but it wouldn't. After the Humane Society left, the guy who wanted the dog stayed a little while long (about another hour) but he sadly gave up and had to go home.

The Humane Society went back after a couple hours (hour and a half actually) to see if the dog would warm-up to them at all. When they got there-the dog was gone. Nowhere in sight.

No one has any idea what had happened to the little guy, so as far as we know-someone could have possibly picked him up. (However, it seems pretty unlikely considering they spent 3 hours trying to get him.) The highway that the dog was dropped off on is just that-a long stretch of highway. It has a grassy hill kind of thing that juts out about 15 feet then drops off about 50 feet on one side and the other side is just highway. So, the (unfortunately) most likely scenario is the dog was hit. The food and everything is still there and they were searching the drop-off for the poor little guy but no luck >.>

It's just pretty pathetic and sick how someone can just leave a dog, where it most likely won't survive and not care. They could've taken him to a shelter (we have about 3-4 no-kill shelters here) or anything like that.

>.> People.
